Counter with 75k for 25 hours a week and working remotely
Yes it is NYC. I haven’t heard back from them and I doubt I will, but I refuse to compromise. I hope anyone who gets contacted about jobs like this will do the same. It’s insulting.
Thanks for the support and advice, I appreciate the positivity. AD1, not multicultural but small. I’ve already replied with a counter and sounds like some of the work could be offsite so might work with my current freelance. It’s the principle of the lowballing that concerns me most however.
They even defined part time as 30 hours a week. So frickin lame. Have to laugh because the alternative of realizing these people might be serious is far too depressing.
These were both recruiters reaching out on LinkedIn, nothing I’ve applied for btw. Still lame tho
Speaking from experience... Was this a multicultural agency?
I’ve noticed a trend of “creative” salaries for creatives
OP, F them. In my experience places that are clueless about the range of salaries are a nightmare and is almost always a crap parade. I’m sure a much better opportunity will come through soon enough. 👍
We should double team on this one. See how high we can actually get him to go. This just got interesting...
LOL CD OP - I also had tactfully told him what the minimum competitive salary for a CD and ACD were. I don't imagine I'll be hearing from him again.... ;)
Nice work OP. Some companies do need to realize that insulting talent isn't the best way to attract them. And that it speaks poorly about the company itself.
In the past I have found that after a draught if I take a job that pays peanuts it somehow shakes something loose in the universe and then the normal rates start knocking again. Since you're obviously experienced, if you can work fast and work off site, it might be okay for awhile til you start seeing better offers. Remember nobody has to know what you're getting paid (so don't tell anybody.)
CD OP - I was contacted about something very similar (part time CD - 30 hours). If the agency name begins with 'Z' - you just saved me a lot of time!
Bingo CDM! 👍
CD OP - I emailed him and asked the salary range - he said 70k so your rejection (and I'm sure many others) scared him up 5K. I bet that makes all the difference 😂
AD I’m talking to him today and also plan to give him the what for. Will report back.
That they are rethinking the role. Ha. I was super blunt. He was nice enough, said anyone he’s talked to about the role has said the same. We’re changing the world one recruiter at a time CDM. 🙌
Can you two please team up and negotiate them into a fair salary. Then turn your backs of them. That would mean a lot to all of us who lost that battle. A small victory but a meaningful one.
So what did moneybags say?
How “part-time” was this CD role...??
And calling out 30 hours a week is still ambiguous, because you might be able to get it all done in 20 hours a week.
