I’m thinking about going back to school to become a teacher.

What EJ1 said. I was a teacher for almost 20 years. It is a great job if it's in your blood. I left because of the administration and legislation.
We need great teachers, but make sure you go in eyes wide open. Don't do it as a mid-life crisis move, or because you feel like you need meaning, or...
Only do it if you feel like you are called to it.

Change your way of thinking. Use your position and knowledge to educate clients and prospects. Then make it your mission in life to try to positively impact as many people as possible. Leave this world a little better than you found it.

And if you just gotta have that student/teacher relationship, get approval and go teach a class or be a guest speaker at your local community college.

Do you know any teachers? My wife taught in a solidly middle class school for 8 years. It's much different than what you're likely expecting.

Make sure you fully explore/vet the field before you switch.

I'm a $70M fee-only (commissions for insurance) independent RIA with a generous comp schedule that enables FAs to own their own book while they grow. As the owner, my focus is to help FAs succeed; as a firm, our focus is on client service and helping them succeed. I can afford a small salary, but not benefits. I'm especially interested in female FAs.
