I live in LA and most of my friends are from school or work. Otherwise it’s very hard to make friends here, covid or not. I’ve met people through meetups, events, etc, but during covid that is not possible.
LA has amazing weather and you can find some great apartment deals, so I wouldn’t count out moving here (except for the whole covid hotspot thing). But try find other reasons to move here besides the social aspect.
OP - moved to Bay Area (not SoCal so different perspective) from NYC and similar to what D1 said, it is tougher making new friends in a new place. I had a few already, but it’s evident people are sticking to their pre corona friend groups. Maybe SoCal is different in how everybody deals with it, but it’s making me consider moving back to NYC
I do not recommend moving here right now.
We are a covid hotspot.
If you think there were covidiots in NY, wait until you come here and see the local anti maskers and tourists from all over who are careless.
