As I’m aiming for mid year promos.
Reason for rolling off was mainly due to some disrespectful treatment towards me since the PM was switched a few months ago. It’s been affecting my mental health. I don’t want to make a scene out of it - just want to quietly make my exit.
Bounce. Your health is way more important than sticking with toxicity for a promo
Not sure how the politics at your firm work but let me just leave this here- I didn’t ask to be rolled off a small project that is just ending after 14 months because I felt it showed my commitment to the client and didn’t want to come across as complaining. Well in my year end, I was basically told that I wasted a year in my career on this project and that it did nothing for me (which is total BS and I’m working on how the project is perceived by leadership).
In the end, do what you think is best for you, especially if you don’t feel comfortable with the new PM. Don’t waste your time on something not making you happy.
I couldn’t agree more.
Not sure how it works at ACN, but we have a “pull” system rather than a “push” for quiet changeovers. I’d use your network to find a better opportunity and equip the pm or partner to have a discussion about how to bring you over. On your side, I’d keep up strong performance while making an argument for why it’s time to find a new thing. 8 months isn’t long for lots of projects, so the tenure argument is unlikely to work. If find someone to bring you over instead
This is a great point, D2. I was thinking of taking this approach as well. The “pull” system.
If I can find another project opp leveraging my network, I can use the rationale of the switch as it being “more aligned with my career goals” or the such.
You’re being treated as if you add no value?
Not about work output. Everyone is very happy with my output, but the comments are more personal. It could be because I come from a very different background and “stick out” - not sure.
Details aside- point is that I’m looking for ways to remove myself from the situation.
1. What level are you? I am assuming Analyst?
2. When are you scheduled to roll off?
3. Do you already have a project lined up? If not, although it sucks, would you consider braving it for another month or month and a half to get you through the tough staffing period?
4. If you’re dead set on rolling off, figure out a good reason why (you’ve found a growth opp at another account, you want to try something new, etc.)
5. Communicate this to your CC - let them know what you’re thinking / what your plans are and get their input/support.
6. Send out your one-pager for new opps.
7. Communicate with your project. Give them time to find a backfill and for KT.
Whatever you do, do not roll off early just to end up sitting on the bench. That will raise a flag.
In the past I’ve given up to one month. But I’d say anywhere from 2-4 weeks.
