I’m three years in at a regional firm ranked about 20th. I don’t really like my job, but am willing to do whatever to set myself up for a nice exit. Would it be a good move going B4 for 1-2 years?

So ignore KPMG above. The big 3 will hire anyone that demonstrates good intelligence and the ability to communicate and solve problems. If you can demonstrate that you don’t have a problem. I don’t know what you want to do with your career but going to a big 4 can open doors

If you can find one that'll hire you.

EY is really pushing for experienced hires in the northeast (I can’t speak for other regions). If you have a CPA, you could reach out to EY experienced hire recruiters or employees on LinkedIn and ask them to submit your resume as a referral. That’s how I got in.

I say yes. I jumped as a manager for the same exact reason

I would go big 4 if I were you. It would only open doors

@AS1 2.5 years/3 busy seasons. My firm won’t promote you until you’ve been there 3 years so I’m close

I agree with BDO1, big 4 can be overrated but definitely opens doors

like

LOL KPMG is the worst.

It depends on what you want to do when you're done with PA - It's a lot easier to convince someone to ignore the fact that you weren't at Big 4 if you have experience and specialized in the industry you're applying to.

Also, you're still a staff after 3 years? I would leave.

ive been looking for jobs and basically every firm is looking for 3 yr people. big 4 overrated but having it on your resume will open doors. Go for it.

If you don’t like your job, I’d recommend searching outside the PA industry. You’re only getting deeper into being branded as an auditor/accountant

How do you keep up/in touch with your network? Mine barely post anything on LinkedIn, so commenting on their posts is out of the question, and apparently it's impolite to just message or email them if the job searcher doesn't have anything to share besides asking for a referral or opening. If I don't have any relevant information to share with them, what should I do?

I met with the hiring manager and he pushed me to the "virtual onsite" to meet with 2 members of his team and a cross functional manager for individual interviews.

Here is how I feel I did:
Interview #1: B
Interview #2: A
Interview #3. C

I still have an upcoming interview with the leadership team.

My question is, how much influence does does the 3 interviews have in swaying the decision of my candidacy?

I'm also assuming that the senior leadership is definitely one of the major factors too.
