First you need to figure out what jobs are out there and which you like that pay enough for you to live the life you desire then and only then should you see what gaps you have currently by seeing what they require and what things you are missing on your resume then you can invest in those things.
Finding what path can make you feel fulfilled in your work while also feeling fulfilled financially is the first step.
It is normal to need to hope jobs but if you have been were you are for a while don’t accept anything less than a 30% total comp pay bump to make it worth your while.
There are sooo many dead end careers paths out there and many have a lot of requirements and provide nothing in return to make your education or cert investment worthwhile so those need to be filtered out.

Anytime at all, back when I was lost and starting one of my mentors who was a senior executive told me “don’t blindly follow your passion like they tell you, first see what lifestyle you require then filter out careers which won’t provide that lifestyle then choose from those which is the most fun for you” this will weed out all the bs jobs out there which will set you off track.
Of course. Investing in your education is never wrong, especially when there are plenty of useful, lower-cost online courses out there nowadays
Same exact situation as me out of college from the base and benefits down to the title haha. Is this in healthcare? Getting laid off forced me to look at other things and in the end I think it was for the best
OP, what region were you in? Midwest? Dealing with Structured products, CLO’s you right that is ridiculous. Was this in asset management or a hedge fund?
I’m in the same boat rn. I feel like now is the time for me to be growing and I’m essentially wasting it. Started looking into roles I’m interested in and comparing requires skill sets. If you see something you don’t have take a course in it and continue building up your resume for your next position!
Same. What are u looking into?
