I’m transitioning careers from Java Developer to Business Analyst. I have experience being a Business Analyst for 6 months in one of my previous project.

Are there any BAs who can guide me on how to get a role and what study materials would be relevant for me? I’m slowly getting demotivated since the interviewer told me I’m not good at translating requirements which makes sense because I mostly took notes and did documentation at the previous BA role I did. Any advice would be helpful!

As a BA, you process a ton of information and work on tight deadlines with many stakeholders - organization is key (think files & folders, emails, bookmarks, notes, your physical desk space, etc.)

Your tech background will be a big help. Picking up new tools is very common. If you aren't already, I would get very comfortable with Windows and MS Office keyboard shortcuts.

You also have to balance the small details with the bigger picture. Get your work done, but think critically. Ask focused, intelligent questions and (respectfully) challenge ideas, as-needed.

It should be easy. All you need to be good communicator & understand the business side more than the technology.

Hi everyone! I’m in MedDevice industry with close to 10yrs experience (3yrs scientist, 6.5yrs Regulatory affairs). Looking for advice, I’m considering going to law school. Is there a demand in the industry for JDs with STEM/Reg background. It seems like a highly specialized area. I’m hesitant to pursue a JD to end up writing regulatory submissions/510ks which I can already do without a law degree. Or, end up in other legal fields outside MedDev Regulatory/Compliance.

Hi all,

Assistant Brand Manager at a medium-sized CPG in the Midwest. I work on the largest brand at the company, which is a category leader. Next role is Brand Manager (we don’t do senior ABM). Been with the company and in the role 2+ years. Previously worked in market research and analytics for 6 years. They’ve been very happy with my work in this role. What salary and bonus % should I expect at the next level? Thoughts on asking for more with a promo? Currently at almost 100 with 12.5%. Thx!

There's no RRSP match (401k match equivalent). Considering its Atlassian, and current market rate, I think base is low. I would like it to be bumped upto to 180k. The recruiter earlier said the top of the pay range is 165k, which I feel is not really top but maybe median? Help me negotiate please; historically suck at it.

This year, I'm on track to make about $150k and to make the firm about $450k from my billable hours and PI cases that I originated and settled.

Trying to do right for my firm. I'm treated well.

Any tips/tricks for the UBE, particularly the MEE or MPT portions? I did a couple practice MPTs but largely ignored it because most samples are simplified work tasks (memos, letters, whatnot). What did you do for MPT prep? Was it sufficient?

How would you compare the UBE to a state-specific exam (like Florida or California) in terms of difficulty?

Thanks everyone!

Another option - I could reach out to former supervisor who was super nice and ask his advice?
