I'm trying to buy a new carry-on size suitcase but am having trouble finding one that fits my requirements. Does anybody know a four wheel spinner bag that's:

1: decent quality build, particularly wheels and handle
2: has a lid that opens and one large compartment (soft or hardside but I don't like the two half clamshell hardsides)
3: looks decent (doesn't have to be fancy/designer, just something I'm not embarrassed to take to a client office)
4: under ~$300

tumi on sale. very frequently have up to 40% off, esp around holidays. careful not to get t-tech or tumi outlet products - those are made more cheaply with worse qc. source: family member used to be a design engineer for tumi

yeah my checked luggage is tumi as well - just my carryon that’s rimowa

I bought the TravelPro Platinum Elite and loved it except it has these weird nonremovable attachments inside right in the center of the compartment which make it not possible to pack my shoes around them.

I considered the TravelPro maxlite or their flight crew line but those are both so ugly

I second the Away - I was using it weekly up until covid and it has proven to be a very solid carry on.

Marshall’s or TJMaxx always has great Samsonite black cases. And no I’m not cheap, I just think it’s ridiculous to pay $600 when you can pay $69.99.

Get your preferences so take this with a grain of salt … the Tumi Alpha 3 is currently my favorite. If you’re always traveling first (or with the top status of a given airline) it’s the best for keeping clothes nice and straight from destination to destination. The front compartment opens up and holds a small garment bag sufficient for two suits. So - you can open it during boarding and they’ll hang it in the closet for you. The clam shell then allows you to cram everything into the other half. Also, while outside your price range, the wheels and handle and other hardware are guaranteed for life (though I’ve yet to need to exercise that guarantee). Also have my eye on the Arrive’. Again - my two cents (I’m a huge fan of practical luggage, especially as it concerns not needing to iron clothes upon arrival).

Just get tumi - you should have at least a 40% discount through work

You have somewhat of a point. I never check my LV luggage, but Tumi isn’t quite that lux. I’ve never had my Tumi stolen. And I never carry on luggage these days. Unless it’s a garment bag or a duffel bag. And that. Has been not at all lately.

I’m feeling very intimidated by a new project.

I’m a mid-level AD with ~7 years experience but this is my first time working on a commercial. It’s moving FAST and a lot of the discussions are ones I’m not familiar with. I’m also paired with a 20-year copy veteran as my partner, so I’m the youngest person on the team. I want to be confident, but I’m nervous to not entirely know what I’m talking about.

How do I not show my intimidation but still overcome imposter syndrome?

Hello guys, my colleague said he's facing issues with his client's Oracle database. He said it took his team 8 weeks to query the database. Database size is 3TB. Eventually, he wants to delete all data from the database and then shrink the database. The deletion will probably take forever to happen too. How can he optimize queries to the database? And how can he eventually delete all data fast and shrink the database successfully?

I worked as a technical PM for a medium-sized adtech company in NYC in charge of 2 technical teams, and the business intelligence team.

On Thursday I was informed by the lead Product Owner and the head of HR that leadership had decided that the project management office was no longer necessary for the company and all three of us, the director and the two technical PMs, were being let go. None of us were given any notice.

If you know of any opportunities I can apply for, please reach out.

A good strategy I have is to see what type of client I am talking to and make dinner in the house for that person. I mean, if it is a couple I prepare a romantic dinner for two, and I tell them to come well-dressed and let them enjoy the dinner in the house. If it is a family, I prepare a family dinner and prepare the family table for all the people who would live in the house. Making them feel at home before buying the house does not fail, what do you think? What other strategies do you use?
