What do you do and in what industry? I would encourage you to keep on the recruiter route. I’m constantly getting cold calls so do some LinkedIn cleanup and every week make a slight update on summary or location to keep at the top of results.

I’ve always found finding a recruiter to be a challenge. Business is so different than law or Med and when trying in the past to find a good recruiter, it’s led me nowhere. I have heard Lucas Group is good in the DC area. Fingers crossed for you OP!

Agree with this. I have never had any luck when trying to connect with recruiters. I find that if you are looking to get into an executive position, those recruiters don’t typically take cold calls from people unless it comes from a warm intro from an executive that has worked with them. The ones that do take cold calls, usually are not in the executive recruiter niche but director and below. Good luck.

Recruiters are the way to go, but you’ll want to meet one so they actually know you and also make sure they are well connected in your field/industry. Best to get referred by someone who has used them and can recommend you. I wouldn’t reach out to clients directly to ask because as you said it’s awkward but if you have a close relationship with them you can ask them their thoughts on you exiting and any recruiters they work with and would recommend. That’s an easy way to let them know you are looking without making it awkward. If they have a need and know you are looking it’s a great opening.

I'm in the same boat. How do we get recruiters to work for us? How do you reach out to them?
