I haven't come across too many costume designers working in-house for agencies, most in-house production depts are looking for more general production members (line producers, PM's, directors, photographers, etc) and tend to hire more specialized crew on a project basis. The majority of costume designers I've worked with are freelance/Union, and tend to do quite well in that space. I would think the best approach is for your friend to make connections with producers and directors who are either in-house or work for production companies, as that would cast a wider net for production opportunities than in-house at a single agency that probably won't need costumes for every project they work on.
Thanks for the response. I don’t think he’s thinking leveraging his design skills directly. More amping up his general production skills (which is a natural part of being a costume designer) and coming in to ad land.
They should look for an entry level coordinator or assistant producer role. Theatrical background is great training for collaboration necessary in video production. “Putting on a show” similar skills just a different medium. They’ll do great!
Can someone tell me the culture at Accenture in Seattle? Honestly? Specifically the dev/software engineering. Are you all working hybrid? WFH full time? Are you micromanaged? Do you enjoy your work? Accenture
