A good place to start is to absorb as much information as possible about the path to PM as well as the job responsibilities so you can proceed with intention and direction. Are there any openings withing your current workplace for Assistant manager, or any other roles that allow you to work directly under the people who have the job you like? Pushing for those positions is a good place to start so you can get personal experience seeing what they do. After that, it's just a matter of observing closely, taking the initiative to take more responsibilities and make a good impression, keep working on your skills outside of work and become a standout employee so you'll be in consideration for a promotion.
Have you done any work in that vein yet? Where are you at in your career? Do you have any training or education that's relevant? Next steps are pretty dependant on that
