I’d communicate this to your coach and then take the time off to get back to 100%

1) sorry for your loss 2) It depends on the individual situation/person, but personally if I experienced loss like that I’d take 2 weeks at least. Mourning is important imo

When my brother died I found it hard to request PTO. Some days I wanted to work because I needed the distraction. But other days the weight of grief left me utterly exhausted before I even got out of bed. And people don't get it unless they've lived it. I found it hard to advocate for myself because theres no guidebook for grief and I didn't know what to expect. Sorry if this isn't helpful, but I get it.

I am so sorry for loss. Your response was very helpful, yes. Thank you for sharing this.

Grief comes in waves and takes months to years to process. Get a therapist and also contact your firm's employee assistance program ASAP for some sessions. There is no shame. You have suffered multiple traumas. Your firm can restaff if you need to take some time. Hugs. This is hard stuff.

Thank you so much for this

I, too, have experienced three deaths in my family (including a parent) this year. You have to take time to grieve. Please do this. Take a couple of weeks to process and recharge. If it is not enough, take some more time. That is the only way to “bounce back up”. Also consider therapy. I don’t know how I would have made it, if not for my therapist.

I’m so sorry for your losses. Thank you for your input I’ve made an appointment with one for this week.

I lost an uncle and aunt last year, was close to both but was unable to articulate my needs and only took 1-2 days off for each case. Everyone is different and processes grief differently but definitely take a few days off, honour the lives and memories of the people you have lost.

Just a follow up thought. I was living by myself and to be honest I would have benefited from having other people around who knew my decreased aunt and uncle and could understand who were these people who had suddenly gone missing in my life, and helped me in talking about my memories with them and sharing their memories of my aunt and uncle. Not sure if you have that kind of support around you, but just something to think about in case you do.

Take the time you need. I lost 2 very close family members two weeks apart. I was so depressed I didn’t care if I had a job. I filed for FMLA, took 4 months, and came back feeling better and with a different mind set when it comes to work.

Anybody’s mom and husband don’t get along? Lol running out of ideas to have them get along. I have a newborn and my mum is here to help with him, and she and my husband don’t get along. Love my husband, he’s great and very helpful with the baby and for me as well in terms of emotional support (postpartum has been harder on me than I thought) but he and mum don’t see eye to eye. Some points of difference- mum is super religious whereas he’s atheist etc etc

I’m up for promotion next year (will find out around February next year) and expecting my first baby in April. I get 16 weeks maternity leave and also considering whether to tack on a 3 month sabbatical or not. Should I take the sabbatical? I get 1/3 of my salary and can only use the sabbatical once every 5 years so I’m thinking it’s probably very unlikely I could take 3 months off in my career 5 years later….(cont)

Looking to take a family vacation out west in August and my mom really want to go to Big Sky. I really want to do Yellowstone, but I feel like it’s best to stay in the park for a couple of nights to really experience Yellowstone, rather than a day trip in from Big Sky. Thinking we should do a couple nights in Big Sky and a couple nights in Yellowstone. Planning to fly in and out of Bozeman. Any recommendations for Big Sky or Yellowstone? Anyone stayed in Yellowstone?

I need advice, has anyone been in a similar sit? Met a guy on Bumble in March. He had gotten out of a 4 year relationship in December. We dated for 2 ish weeks, on date 3 we made out and touched (no sex but we both came). After the date he tells me he needs time to himself, his mind is all over the place. We’re May and he reached back out (to congratulate me for my sisters baby). Said he’s in a much better place mentally, wants to meet up. CONTd in comments
