I’m underinvested in 401k and had to pay up more taxes for last year. Looking to fully utilize $19.5k quota this year. Can I put money in 401k in bulk right now ?

Assuming it’s a pre-tax contribution that comes directly out of bi-weekly payroll - no

We can contribute 50% max per pay period. Which includes 50% of bonus payout in Feb. So usually im mostly funded in Q1... which has worked against me this year. JPM also matches annually, so no need to worry about missing out in match. You'll have to read your plan summary. You could miss out on match.

like

Different schools of thought here, dollar cost averaging by putting it in little by little throughout the year. I just used my bonus to max out all at once.

Depends really on how your employer applies your match. If its paycheck by paycheck, wouldn't go all in now, but if they match all at once at the end of the year, go for it.

The best you can do is set your contribution rate to whatever the max is. At EY it is a punitively low 30%.

Hello I am a current nutrition masters student that will be finished with my degree this July and am trying to get involved with healthcare/ tech consulting. I have done 4 years of research in various fields and have readily available skills. I have also worked in a private practice, volunteered my time for EMS, and worked in a hospital so I know healthcare from a different perspective. If anyone can refer me to a consulting job or to a recruiter that would be greatly appreciated!

After 3 years of dealing with the worst firm I've ever had the displeasure of working for, I finally landed my dream gig at a small specialty firm. The people at the new firm are all SMEs featured in and contributors to the most notable business publications in the world, less than 100 employees, better benefits, unlimimted PTO, doubled my pay and landed a senior role.

Keep looking for what you want and deserve. I'm happy to be forging a better path away from what I've had to endure.

Serious question - is there a reverse FIRE strategy? I like the idea of saving and retiring early, but the one hiccup I see (and sorry if this is grim) is if you die earlier than expected. I’d be worried that I would minimize lifestyle and fun for retirement at 50 but I’d die at 49. How about a way to work 9 months out of the year and retire/travel/relax for 3 months? This way you guaranteed your dreams/etc. are fulfilled

Hi fishes,
I'm 22 and planning to take a life insurance. I'm comparing all policies and max life seems attractive as it has good claim settlement ratio and less premiums. But there is no office near our area. My worry is that if there is a need to claim in future, it can be done all online by my nominee? Is it recommended to take policy online in any platform(like policybazaar)?
Other options I'm considering are SBI life, HDFC life which offices are available in my locality.
Please guide
