How does one get on at a family office?
Anyone recently received a tax manager offer from EY ? I’m going through final interviews and want to see what your experience was like (negotiation process, initial offer higher/lower than expected?, did you give them a salary expectation range? How long did it take from final interview to offer etc) TIA!PwC EY KPMG Deloitte

Try and stick it out to Manager if you can. A buddy of mine in my group left as a S3 and I left as a new M2 and our total comp difference is at least ~$40k even though we have the same YOE. Already having the manager title will help!
Well, if you asked me a year ago, I thought I’d be around a while, but Idk, 2020 changed my mind I guess and I started looking for another job. It just so happens that I progressed to M2 on October 1st and left shortly thereafter. An prospective employer is going to put more weight on the S3-M1 promotion than sticking around for M1 year, etc.

Stick it out. If you leave as an S3, hiring managers/recruiters will forever glance at your resume and assume you left because you weren’t “promotable”.
That’s just what it looks like on a resume, even if it’s not true.
Stick it out if you’d be leaving for a senior position. Promotions in industry are less frequent- who knows how long you’d be at the senior level if you make the switch now. If you can leave for a manager position, do it.
Stick it out. Recruiters filter by title. It’ll open up to more opportunities. You might still end up in the same private industry job but at least you don’t need to look back and wonder about the what ifs.
If you were to leave before you get promoted, look for a manager position if you can. Someone in my group was denied for promotion and got laid off as S3 but later on became a manager. You might get stuck as senior for a long time in industry.
Apply for manager level positions and take the leap out. I was in a similar situation and just recently left to go into private.
Stick it out. Others said it well.
Tough it out. Once you make it to manager you can leave. Almost there!!!
Do you have an offer? Why not keep your ear to the ground for open positions and apply to the ones you like. If you don't like the offer you get, you can decline. I think many people are constantly searching for new jobs. I've gotten a couple of offers that just didn't work for me for one reason or another, and I declined them. No harm done as long as you're not telling your firm that you're looking (and even sometimes if you do), there's nothing bad that's going to happen.
Stay for the manager position even if it’s title only. This isn’t your last job change and having big four manager line on your resume can/will help you down the road. Recruiters and future employers like knowing they are getting someone who attained that rank.
I was an M3 and was promised the SM position for this coming fall. Mid-sized company contacted and showed me the money. Started the new position this week. Independence is a pain in the ass and there’s an opportunity cost that I factored into my decision with now being able to invest in more companies. IMO titles are somewhat overrated after manager level. Happy with my decision
Why not try for a manager role in industry?
