I’m very early in my career but I really want to leave media. I love film and television but I don’t think I’m cut out for it (I’ve been on a toxic team for the past year and it has me doubting myself). What should I do? Why do people love this industry?

I’m looking to transition to a new role with more responsibilities and higher pay of course. I’ve been having a lot of trouble recently, and frankly it’s made me feel very down. I haven’t been able to get past initial recruiter screenings or first round interviews. I have almost 2.5 yoe as a BA and PM as well as a mba but I just can’t get a new role. Was talking to a recruiter today and when she asked about my desired compensation I told her a minimum of $80k since it is already below the average for a Financial Analyst in nyc. Recruiter then asks me why do I think I deserve that amount. I was taken aback because I thought that is very fair for someone with experience in the field already and have a few years of relevant experience as well. Am I tripping or was that condescending? She then tries to low-ball me to $70k 😐.
