Maybe you should bump up your leadership experience on your resume? It might be that you're not positioning yourself as a leader with the language and keywords you're using

I mean, I was in a similar boat so I took some side gigs/hustles that were related to the field where I got that experience. If you can't/won't embellish, really the only thing you can do is figure out how to get that experience in your current role OR go for a lower role where there isn't a ceiling

I found the only way to get lead was to bump up my leading experience on my resume and network at work. One thing I can tell you is that the headache and the $$ they pay for just the title might not be worth it. I got my title but was offered almost nothing in return for the hard work. && I work 10 times harder 😭

Talk your your leader. This is how I got my experience. I told my boss I my career goals were to advance into a leadership position. He gave me opportunities and some additional responsibilities and provided mentoring.

There may be some leadership trainings in your area. More than likely your resume might be missing some of your experience.

Have you considered having your resume professionally optimized? Sometimes it can be as simple as changing some of the wording. Its totally worth the money.

I'm definitely thinking ill need to do this!

That's s tough one. Can you claim some of the experience and skills based on the individual tasks you have done?

I've been trying to highlight the variety of things I can do but, since I haven't specifically had anyone under me, I've been passed up.

Rework that resume. Trust me I had to rewrite mine over n over but it's finally getting me traction

Everyday is a chance to show your leadership
skills in how you prioritize tasks, your integrity and how you interact with other colleagues regardless of your title. Unfortunately experience doesn’t always equate to good management skills.

Talk to your manager about opportunities for mentorship, certificate programs etc. As others have commented, work on strengthening those leadership qualities on your resume.

Hey fishes, I made it to the final round of interviews for an SWE internship at an awesome company but didn't get one of the 4 final offers. I applied to over 50 companies and this was the only one I heard back from, so I was kind of banking on it.

Feeling pretty disheartened and I'm worried I don't have enough time to secure a position for the summer. Any advice and/or concrete leads on last-minute summer SWE internships at other companies? Appreciate anything you've got!
