Sorry to hear that. That sounds exhausting and I know the financial strain causes so much stress. Can you consider moving further out of the city or to a lower cost of living area? Perhaps closer to some family? We did that during the early pandemic partly for financial reasons.

Also I can't afford to move. 2 years ago we moved 2 miles and it costed us $2k for the movers alone. Not including first, last rent. Literally making enough now to get through paycheck to paycheck

This is tough. We can get through anything especially for a short amount of time. Can you move to a smaller place? Put the moving fees on a credit card? Work extra doing Uber or food delivery? Ask a family member for financial assistance? Do a 401k loan?
Some of these aren’t the best financial advice but desperate times call for desperate measures. Good luck to you!
What area do you live in?

My team is putting me up for promo at 4 years instead of 5 years at the firm (S2)

- high performer
- acting manager on engagement
- client advocating for me at manager role on engagement
- partner & SM support
- current manager has not been performing well, recently joined the firm a few months back from industry
- involved heavily in firm culture and resource groups.
- utilization is on track to hit target / slightly above target

Firm politics aside, What would stop me from early promo?

I got a contract offer to work with EY for one year tenure for auditing . Job description is not particularly mentioned in offer letter but job position is mentioned as finance associate. EY will also partially fund for my CPA exam. Do you think my job will deal with for core auditing or just back end work? Also will I have access to learning platforms while under contract employment?

I feel like my hormones have been off ever since pregnancy. I’m in my early 30s but I get heat flashes, which I never had before. PMS symptoms have also gotten so bad (chin breakouts, extreme bloating and constipation, very irate, feeling ravenous often, random chin hair, etc). Despite all my best efforts I can’t seem to lose weight either. From what I researched so far, it seems like not a lot of people specialize in hormones (I’m in Chicago). Anybody else go through this or have suggestions?

Tell me there is hope…my son is week 3 in daycare (almost 8 months old) and will NOT sleep. There is too much noise/crying babies, stimulation in general (bright lights) to have him nap and screams if they put him in a crib. They asked us what could work but what works isn’t what they can do. Either they hold him or put him in a less stimulating environment (subtle light, quieter) which both aren’t an option. Anyone have a similar experience? Do we figure out a different arrangement?
