I would recommend bringing it up to your manager. Reaffirm your commitment to the company but that you’re also for growth - scope and salary wise and are exploring what comes next and that you’d ideally like to stay and know you can continue to make an impact and add value but looking for a salary of $XX. I think your managers reaction/response to this will be very telling and will be a good indicator if it’s time to go. Come prepared to share what you’ve accomplished in your current role - especially any extraordinary wins/milestones which will help your case. There is always something that can be done to retain good people (IMO) but giving them some ammunition so that they can escalate and get something would likely help. Good luck!
THIS. Solid advice. I agree 100%
Following. Could have written this myself.
You should definitely have the conversation with your manager, especially if annual/merit increase is approaching. They clearly have the $$ if they spent it on the incoming recruiter. Not sure if they have more experience, but either way a conversation would help clarify.
If your company is large enough for a comp department, you can ask for your role to be re-benchmarked. This way you have asked for actual market data to back up your request as well.
If all this fails, it may be time to move on. If the timing is right for you to return to your company later, it will happen. I have seen it many times lately in my own company- we call them “boomerangs”, but clearly when they return they are paid more.
I would definitely bring it up to my manager. its admirable that you wouldn't want to leave your job, but at the same time, you should be getting paid what you're worth.
Timely, I needed answers for the same concern. Leaving this thank you as gratitude, I was able to pick up things to note for my concern.
