It would spread slower because we'd be less connected and less densely populated
Wuhan is on the Yangtze and would've spread to Shanghai pretty quickly. Hong Kong would have been close behind. From here, the virus could go anywhere. I think it would have spread at a slightly quicker pace and our awareness of it would have been much less, until it was undeniably dug in pretty much everywhere. The NHS would've been probably the first to pick up on it since Hong Kong was still under the empire then.

I think it would first be labeled a nasty cold until it reached the geriatric population. Wuhan is on the Yangtze, which means it would have hit Shanghai pretty quickly. From there, it can go anywhere.
The internet existed 30 years ago too.
30 years ago is 1990, flights, cruises, trains still existed so yes, it would’ve been much worse since reporting would’ve been much slower
