My grades are only based off mastery and I follow a rubric. I teach science and grade more on whether or not the student can apply scientific thinking to solve problems and explain ideas in their own words. I’m sure they hate me but my assessments are always short answer with some multiple choice.
sounds good- less emphasis on grades and getting an A the first time. Everyone should be able to masters skills at their own pace.
I do that. Too bad the tests they care about don’t back it up due to a student not being a master at that moment.
I hate these necessary tests that happen before we have the time to teach it AND before they have mastered it
