Imagine you received an offer for a PM role (non-FAANG) what are some questions you'd ask the hiring manager about the job or company?
Reason for asking this is because I see a lot of PM jobs might not be exactly align with what PMs should do. Any thoughts on this ?

I don’t have two full time roles exactly. But I have freelance work that’s the equivalent of a full time role. In fact, I have sometimes made 2x the amount I make at my job freelancing. I am essentially a fractional director for one company and I do other high level freelance work. I did not plan for this or seek it out. People just came to me through referrals or seeing my work elsewhere. I also got five job offers this year. I accepted one that will give me a 40% raise.

Has anyone noticed Glassdoor salaries changing significantly over the past week or two? However, I was told there’s strong external competition who have more experience in the field and likely to get the job. Hiring manager told me to consider a different open role in the team where I’d be a much better fit. The other role isn’t exactly what I was hoping for but could be a foot in the door. @amazon Just got off first round interview for tech senior product manager opportunity at Amazon. My interviewer, a principal product manager didn’t ask one question with “tell me about a time when”. The questions were all over the place and I honestly couldn’t tie them back to LPs because of how they were worded. And he finished with asking for a new feature for Alexa?? What in the world just happened here?!

Hi - I’m a PM at a reasonably well known company. I don’t have an MBA and see lots of folks asking about needing that to get an interview at FB, G or A. I can confirm that an MBA isn’t a hard req as I’ve had recruiters reach out and offers to move forward to interviews before. I’ve never decided to actually move forward though as I don’t see the appeal. I really want to know, what’s the thing that excites you all about working at a massive FAANG type company?

I just took over a SAAS product where I own P&L with 800 B2B clients with so much customization that it feels like 800 versions of the product. The product was acquired and there are a ton of process improvements needed, tribal knowledge and start up mentality. I have a PO who does the day to day work with the devs, but otherwise it’s just me. I’ve been a PM for 15 years and never felt so understaffed. I’d like to hear the level of responsibility you each have and how your team is structured.

How much does a product manager earn in general in Deloitte? With 2-3 years experience?

A Director of Product sent a connection request on LI and asked if I wanted to talk. We had a good call —fairly informal. They liked my background and understanding of strategy. Without filling out an app —he moved me to discussion with HR and to the “final interview”, but it’s actually 5 separate interviews, each with a different stakeholder from the panel. Also had me sign an NDA. Not taking anything for granted -prepping rigorously- but is this at all common?

Has anyone led a brainstorming / roadmapping strategy as a startup product manager? I have never done this before and haven’t seen very good examples. How do I do this successfully at a company of about 20 people where we have 6-8 engineers, some sales people, 1 designer, 1 product manager (me), and the execs?
