Impulsively jumped firms for better projects. I want to get pregnant & settle down. Worried I sabotaged ops to transfer internally so soon or fear need to get local gig & how my resume looks. 😬

Deep breaths. Better projects is a real and valid reason to jump firms. If you’re good and you prove yourself, you’ll find internal or local opportunities. Give yourself time to assess the new firm. It may take you time to get pregnant and then if/when the baby comes, you can see and act on the opportunities you find- whether they’re local, internal, or maybe a flexible travel schedule. Bottom line is don’t worry about switching tracks until you actually have to. Also, check to see if you need to be employed for a certain period of time before you become eligible for maternity benefits- at some firms it can be up to a year and that is def worth planning a pregnancy around.

Need counsel: Left advertising to go client side last year. Working at a huge company isn’t for me long-term but the money is great, I have more balance and actually raised my kids this year. I have the opportunity to be a c-suite leader at a very small agency on the rise. Super confused. Money will be less, long-term opportunity will be more. Also thinking about having another kid soonish.

At what age do you stop taking a bath with your child? My 3 year old & I were in the bath together and suddenly he reached out to my chest and said “mumma, your lungs are outside, mine are inside my body” I was so embarrassed! I told him that those were my breasts and that grown ups have slightly different body parts. I normally take a quick shower before him and sit in the tub with him, as that’s our bonding time. I was wearing underpants so thankfully he didn’t notice my non-existant penis

Hello! A senior associate that I work for is expecting and she will be going on parental leave soon. She has been a great mentor to me and so I wanted to get/send her a gift congratulating her on the new baby once she goes on her leave. Any ideas for a gift? (We aren’t incredibly close so it doesn’t seem as easy as shopping for a friend/family member who just had a baby, if that makes sense) TIA!

Considering leaving my agency after just a couple months in pharma - feeling underutilized and stuck. My question: do I leave this stint off my resume entirely? List the parent agency instead of the wellness arm? Pass it off as freelance? Not trying to be dishonest I just know this experience probably isn’t relevant when going out for non-pharma jobs.

How frequently should one expect or advocate for a raise at a small firm? I moved to a new firm (about ten lawyers) about two and a half years ago. After my first year I got a 20% raise following a brief and exclusively positive performance review. Its been about 17 months since then and silence. I have the general sense that the firm struggled a little financially during COVID and I don't want to seem ungrateful or greedy, but apparently the firm is doing well enough to hire more associates.
