Is it really that difficult to get hired for a federal job? I was interviewed for a GS12 job but never heard back, they still didn’t hire anyone and I didn’t get a rejection. I applied for another GS07 job, was accepted, I took it, but I believe I can do better. I have a master’s and have extra graduate research experience. I am still applying to new jobs but I was told it is impossible to move up the grade level now. Everyone is telling me to stick with the government. What are your thoughts?

I am currently working as a senior connsultant in my project. My work is to supervise and help my team members overcome any hurdles or help them put away blockers. But I dont want to do this, instead I want a direct client facing role(onshore oppurtunity). How do I tell my director about it in a humble way, so that he doesn't get a wrong picture of me. There are other Sr.Cons as well in the team,but I am not sure whether they want onshore oppurtunity or not.

Any advice for interviewing for a software role? Haven’t done the phone interview or anything like that just yet but would love if anyone had advice/things I should definitely know before hand etc

Right now, work is slow due to statewide restrictions. There isn't much to do but we're still required to come to the office everyday.
