For those at companies and on teams that are pushing more social events and company trips, are you attending those? With WFH being a new standard ish, I’m worried my lack of attendance at these networking/company events will impact my career growth. Would you say this is true?
Can someone refer me at JP Morgan Morgan chase for the job code 210207050JPMorgan Chase
I worked at a company for 2 years, promoted 3 times and up for a 4th. However, I was sexually harrassed by an upper manager and the place became a very hostile environment that I had to resign from. It's been 2 years and I have worked at several companies that were toxic and underpaid but did not know it at the time. Lost a lot of confidence in myself and am trying to get it back, did reflecting and am interested in transitioning to learning and development. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!
What are the pros and cons of practicing in Texas? I am a junior associate with two young kids. The housing price in NY and California made it difficult to afford a single family house even with a biglaw salary. I could spend 1/5 to 1/3 of the budget but get a much nicer house in Houston/Dallas/Austin. Any insights?
My neighborhood is going WILD!🥳
Hi everyone. A friend knows that I do Staffing recruiting and this agency is in charge of providing medical benefits, PTO, and Holiday pay. I run the branch, I'm responsible for coaching, maintaining attendance, and dealing with verbal and written warnings, and termination. We use TempWorks to track everything from interviews, onboarding, E-Verify, background and drug screening, and payroll as well. I document everything. Ok, so my question is do I need any HR specific certifications?
Having serious sleep problems, on and off been about two years now. Recently had an episode of extreme dizziness, diagnosis is vertigo. Been two months, still feel it from time to time.

Had my first partner mentor meeting. We talked about career planning and getting involved in organizations in ny to meet people and help bring in business. What orgs are out there that you are in and enjoy the people?
EDNY: Are there any workarounds to the requirement that the attorney submitting your sponsoring affidavit must have known you for one year? I recently moved to NY for family reasons and I don’t really have a network up here. I have been admitted to the NY bar since April, but I need to be admitted to the EDNY as well.
Any advice on finding in-house opportunities for junior associates in IP transactions/privacy? I've seen some juniors with 0.5-1.5 years of experience in biglaw go in-house lately, but all the postings I've found ask for 3+ years.
How many hours will you bill this year? If you have ever been spoken to about needing to bring up your hours, how low were they?
Are there any NY capital markets practices with reasonable hours? I’ve been averaging 70-80 hours a week at my firm for months and need to get out.
one thing I do not do is pick up the phone before 9:30…after 7 years, you would think they’d learn.
Work for a firm who fudged the special bonus (not special as expected to hit hours in order to get it - was about 50 hours off). Billed 1850 cf 2000 requirement for year end bonus and looks like anyone not hitting won't get year end bonus. I'm not expecting a full bonus (and do not want to come across as entitled) but feel like deserve something for the work put in over the year, gaining recognition in legal publications across my speciality and being seconded to client. What would you do?
I’ve known for a long time that I wanted to switch to immigration law. What’s the better way to do it - part time with legal aid or full time with a small firm? I was thinking I could study to become competent while part time but maybe that’s silly? I’m just worried the small firm may not see me as a qualified candidate since I’m 5 YOE commercial lawyer
Foreign LLM student here. I plan to take the NY bar exam in February. I’m thinking of taking a bar prep course (most likely Barbri). They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take? In case it is helpful, I come from a civil law country. Thanks!

From Rome to New York.
I work in Kpmg as a legal specialist (before I worked in BigLaw for 1 year) and I have just passed the NY bar exam (plus I have the gc and an LLM). I am sending my resume to big four and big law trying to get a job offer but I just did one interview. Any tip or advice? What are the firms that would find my profile interesting?

What firm has the best benefits? I know most firms don't match 401ks, but do any allow mega backdoor Roths? Heavily subsidize healthcare (either paying all or most premiums or large HSA subsidies) or gym memberships (I'm talking like 80% equinox memberships)? Do any firms have official sabbatical policies for associates? Long vacations? Actual 1800-2100 hour expectations (corporate) rather than being told you're below average at 2250?
Recently passed the NY Bar. Looking to explore big law opportunities. Links or referrals will be appreciated. I am also licensed in another jurisdiction. My Resume will be made available upon request.
Does anyone have insight into lateraling into NY BigLaw from regional BigLaw? I am a mid level restructuring associate that has worked on big cases all around the country. But, I’m wondering if there’s a barrier to entry that I may not be aware of...
