In a bit of an ethical dilemma. Got accepted into a 6 month rotation program within the firm. However, also plan on taking paternity leave at that end of the rotation. I understand company policy is to disclosure paternity leave two months prior. I have disclosed the desire for paternity leave to the rotation leadership but not to my leadership as fear they will not let me do the rotation. Any thoughts?

For a million reasons, you should not disclose any faster than what is in your contract.

EY would gladly throw you under the bus if it meant that they got more money from it. Why do you owe them any more courtesy than they'd show you?

Thanks to both. I was leaning that way but just wanted to make sure my rationale was right.

If I read correctly to disclose the leave two months prior to it would put you smack in the middle of the rotation program thus you are likely to complete it. So do that. You follow the rules. Not sure why would you feel like you need to disclose it months ahead otherwise

Americas Consulting Leadership Rotation. So definitely we’ll give me exposure to leadership that I could otherwise not get.

I think leadership in my company is just gearing up to sell:
1. When I try to refactor, organize, or address tech debt in the code, I get heavy pushback with no real justification (they just say “keep it simple”) and no stated initiatives to fix said debt. Thanks, I guess I’m just an impetuous child.
2. Marketing wants “more logos” to attract a 2nd round of investment.
3. No long-term vision for our “product.”
4. Way more personnel,no innovation

I have been offered a position in-house at a $500M-$1B company, mid-sized city LCOL, 10 YOE in private practice. They offered me $120k, w opp for undefined discretionary bonus. No paid parental leave or 401(k) match & only 1 week PTO in first year (but claim they have discretion for more). Is there any way to salvage this? Salary guides suggest TC should be around $200-215k. I want to get my foot in the door but this seems crazy low.

Was reminded last week of my best off-the-wall response in class. True story.
MS Flute player: “ How do you trill a G?”
Me: “You have to write two books first.”
1. 10 seconds of silence until first lightbulbs go off.
2. 30 seconds until a percussionist went in for the “ba-domp-ding” on snare and cymbal.
3. End of class heard one student say “I still don’t get it.”
MS kids are awesome!
