In a break from the negative spiral many are experiencing, what great or amazing things have happened to you?

My wife and I just had our first child in NYC! Miracles do happen, my friends.

My toddler gave me a hug this morning and patted my head saying “iss okay dada.” I don’t care what’s going on in the world, that’s gold.

Has anyone heard of Doug reeves? Just curious a district in my area is having him speak at a virtual meeting coming up on ways to improve D and F grades. He has a sketchy past from being in jail for embezzling money for an organization and years ago he was accused of molesting a coworkers child then several years go by and he was acquitted. Regardless if he was acquitted or not why would a district hire this professional speaker to speak to a group of teachers?? How about someone with a cjeanrr

Hello fellow HR pros! I really need your opinions on HR certifications. I am deciding between PHR and SHRM-cp. I have read just about all there is online comparing the two and can not decide. My heart is telling me PHR, my mother in law (an HRBP) is telling me to go with SHRM, as it’s more widely recognized, more established and a larger network in general. I work for a 350~ company who is growing rapidly through M&A. Passions/interests are compliance, strategic vision, M&A, branding and culture

Already have about 500k UR points (was intending to spend them on a honeymoon then turned around and got pregnant right after the wedding so honeymoon didn't happen). Would love to accumulate more points for late honeymoon once kid is old enough to leave with my parents.

I’m at the point that I start trembling every time I get an email alert. It’s the little things piling up that is getting to me. The to do list full of, “send emails to X about Y,” “follow-up re this,” “revise the 100 small things the baby lawyer drafted.” Tasks that might take 15 minutes to an hour individually, but all together it’s a lot. I’m the bottle neck. I’m the one who needs to move these things along. But there’s always something bigger and more urgent. Nothing’s ever FINISHED.

My sibling and I can't see eye-to-eye on much anymore... it's been tough during a time when we should be united (parent in the hospital, holidays). I know I owe her an ammends for a horrid accusation I made. However, I can't bring myself to do it just yet, and I can't seem to shake the negative accusation. I've also been talking about it to her adult child 😮‍💨 I was supposed to be the cycle breaker...

I just got invited to a dinner meeting with 20 other consulting professionals from my new office. It’s going to be an indoor dinner and there’s nothing on the invite indicating whether this is optional or mandatory. Here’s the thing: I’m pregnant - fully vaccinated, but I’ve still been trying to be really careful about Covid - no indoor dining, always masking indoors. I don’t actually know anyone at the office yet and don’t want to come off as contrary… Any advice on how to handle?

Naive question: How many yearly billable hours are reasonable for a good balance of work and home. I have a young child and don't want to miss out on important moments. I had one firm state that their yearly quota is 1900 hours and I don't have a frame of reference as to whether this is reasonable or if it means 12 hour days. I am coming from public service so billables are 100% new to me. Any insight is appreciated.

So weird I don’t remember joining this bowl (or why) but my new therapist recommended an ADHD assessment. I’ve been researching symptoms and can relate to a LOT of them (as a child and adult). I’m conflicted because I can stay organized when I track my daily routine (been using my daily planner consistently for 2 months yay) and I’m able to focus using Pomodoro technique. How do you differentiate b/w “normal” forgetfulness, time management issues, etc vs ADHD?

When did search engine optimization become so complicated? It used to be so easy—you just had to get your site on Google and Bing and people would find it. What happens when small businesses can’t afford those kinds of things?
