In a recruiter perspective, how is the background check process done when there’s a third party company involved? I’m assuming information is provided and recruiters reach out to previous employers correct?

What has gone wrong in Chicago in the last two years? There wasalways at least one major piece of work the whole world noticed, usually from Leo Burnett or Ogilvy. But the tone and energy of work from San Francisco and New York agencies is just light years ahead of Chicago now. It all just feels so mediocre and dated. Where is the groundbreaking idea? Do you need financial backers for the most forward thinking teams to open a place? You can’t blame clients, clients ared the same everywhere.

Anyone have any idea when the hiring freeze might end within AWS ProServ? I’m currently at Amazon and have a TS clearance, PMP & CSM. I come from a Big4 consulting firm with a background in Enterprise Performance. I’ll be honest and say I’m not feeling very safe in my current role with the ongoing layoffs. Instead of leaving, I’d love to go back to my “consulting roots” and join the ProServ team. I’m taking my AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam next weekend. Hoping this freeze is lifted soon.

Would it be best to thank them for their offer and tell them you'll think about it and then negotiate via email?

Started interviewing to get negotiation leverage as our company is being acquired. Got some offers but I’m getting offers faster than the acquisition deal is closing within my current role. I don’t want to turn down a new opportunity at another company without testing the waters under our new acquired structure, but also don’t want to stay and then regret not taking another job. What's a really good "difficult" question that you as a candidate can ask the (big law) interviewer?

Context: I had callbacks at a big law firm while i was in law school and after one partner finished her questions and I finished asking my questions, she told me to ask her a really tough question, something to really stump her. l fumbled and am pretty sure that majorly factored into the rejection.

Just received an offer that was $5k over the top of my initial range. I was nervous that I had low balled myself in the initial range I gave so am happy with this amount. Should I still try to negotiate for higher at this point or is that a bad look and just go with what they offered?

Starting a new job at Applied Materials on Monday as a Manufacturing Engineer III. I’ve been out of college for 5 years and all of my work experience till now has been in R&D for start ups and small businesses . So not only is this a new experience for me going into such a large company but also a industry (semiconductors).
