I'm using a recruiter, but in my case it's an acquaintance of mine from uni. We run in pretty similar circles so I trust her a bit more than the average recruiter because of that and she's actually found me some excellent stuff so far. Because of all that, I can afford (or at least, I'm more comfortable) to be more direct and honest about what my goals/values/etc are.
I don't have much experience working with other recruiters but out of all of the others I've tried, the most quality interactions were either with ones referred to me by friends/fam in my industry or recruiters I met while back in university. Main reason I didn't go further with them was a combo of lack of experience and impostor syndrome on my end.
For context though, I'm fairly recently out of school (about 3-4 years now) so I haven't spent much time building up connections with recruiters.
LinkedIn recruiters can be a real hit or miss.
Former co-workers/colleagues have also been great for helping find new opportunities
Oh and to answer the how to find one question, I'd say start by asking colleagues and friends that you trust for any recruiters they've worked with in the past that have been quality.
