Hi, I been working for Lloyds Bank for almost 9 years now , I recently attended a interview for Barclays and offered an Senior Business Analyst AVP role in Wealth and private banking area. I did not see much difference in the salary offered and it is pretty much same ie 68.5k.But the difference is current role is London based, however the Barclays one is based in Glasgow where cost of living is less in comparison. I am unable to decide whether to take the offer or not..any suggestions will be helpful pls.
Does anybody have any advice when applying to postings with many applicants and getting noticed? The company I am interested in is Figma, and though I reached out to a few technical recruiters after applying through LinkedIn, I am wondering if there might be something more I could do that maybe I’m not thinking about. Also along those lines, if anybody here works for figma I would love the chance to connect

It would certainly be looked at askance. Unless I really loved you, you would get an “absolutely not” back. Yes, it is a negotiation, but you gave me a range and I offered in it. The negotiations are over
If you have a food reason like the job description changed, sure. If not, that's a really bad look to start at a company.
No keep negotiating. That’s silly to be narrowed into a range without knowing their comp. remember that the 401k March and healthcare are easily worth 20-50k depending on your level, which is on top of regular comp
You just need to give a good reason for why you are asking more. You can say another firm just offered you X. That usually does the trick every time. It even makes you sound more coveted.
...to negotiate higher than the range I gave?
Fair point, SM1. Thank you
Thanks, BCG1. Those were my initial thoughts; since the new company can’t match the healthcare and profit share I figured I’d at least like to get more base. What are your thoughts on how to frame that with the new company? Just be as forward as telling them straight up?
Also you didn’t know much about the role before you negotiated so now that you learned more you could always say that due to finding this out I believe this amount of$ is more fair
Yes - this is something you’ll give up in your comp
I agree negotiate higher if you think you are worth more. No problem doing it after you already gave that range before.
You can not negotiate now. A negotiation is an exchange, they give something, you give something. You have already agreed to come work for them, what more are you going to offer? To work harder? This is why you can’t negotiate, you have a deal and you can do nothing more except just ask for more money. Go for it if you want, but be clear what the situation is
I agree you shouldn’t have given a range like that so early. Also agree you should negotiate to a number you think is fair regardless of what’s already been said. Just be prepared that you might not get it but usually doesn’t hurt to ask
Quick update : no offer yet. Spoke to the internal recruiter who said she has received positive feedback so far but a decision has not been finalized. I’ve never been on the recruiting/hiring side of things but I can’t imagine they don’t know yet whether or not they want to make an offer. Will stand by for now...
