Unfortunately the mental math capability is exactly what they’re trying to assess, among other skills. So you’ll be explicitly asked not to use anything except pen and paper
Recruiter told me (without me even asking) that i would be expected to do mental math during my interviews, so I dont think they believe its a waste of time

They are not going to ask you to integrate square root of sine inverse (x). It would probably be basic arithmetic.
If you’re in a client meeting in person and the client asks you a question that requires you to compute the product of two numbers, you’d be expected to do so without reaching in your bag for a calculator pulling it out and punching in the numbers.
