it could change at any point all the way up until you are admitted, that's the scary part.

No Point. I know a Partner who as SM was told by three partners that she will never be even considered for partnership yet she made it.
I know an SM-11who is killing it and yet hasn't been promoted to a partner.
@ey2 what are the labor laws that impact making partner after 40?
There’s been a big push at EY to counsel out heavy Senior Managers who don’t have a path to PPMD, or, who perhaps have some of the qualities to be a PPMD but they are just too far down in the pipeline (too many stronger candidates ahead of them). Partly because it’s the right thing to do, but also self-serving of leadership, as if you string a SM along too long then they get annoyed and leave as an unhappy alumni who will likely be a decision-maker at our clients and won’t select EY as their go-to service provider.

I know a partner that was rated a 3 every year til SM
Something is not adding up here 🤨
So who decides who makes partner? Is it like a vote? 🤔 say you have two strong SM
At Deloitte you are offered a chance to pitch yourself in front of other partners. Partners ultimately vote on who makes it. Senior partners have more sway in their votes. So you have to be someone’s favorite puppy basically. And they train you throughout the process.
It starts with you affirmatively saying to folks “I want to be a Partner”(or MD). If you can’t or won’t assert, no one is going to assume or do it for you. Then from there it’s having real conversations about how to get to where you want to go.
