In cold, outbound sales, how are you generating qualified leads and opportunities? Any ideas/tips?

I agree that LinkedIn is one of the best sites for lead gen, but I've also seen people have luck with joining groups/forums. (facebook groups, subreddits, etc.) Getting into the community that you want to attract for your product or service can give you an upper hand.

I know this sounds weird, but I think my fiancé has my tech tapped… I journal and write short stories that I’ve used as an outlet for years. Way before I met him. Lately, it feels like he repeats things that I’ve written or said over the phone. For example, I’ll tell a friend that I want to visit her in San Diego. Then, he’ll come home and say I should visit my friend in San Diego soon. Am I paranoid or is he really listening? I feel violated and exposed. He doesn’t have a tech background.

I am on an engagement that has 2 managers. I enjoy working with 1 manager. He is very understanding and provides feedback/guidance. However, the other belittles me. She is constantly asking “why” and even when I am not sure of the response she keeps pressuring. She provides no actual information for me to learn from. Not sure if I should correct her on how she should speak to me. Or if I should jump ship & ask not to be on this engagement. still new so i am not stuck on this team yet.

I’m looking to place an offer for some shares in a private but loosely held company where the company has first rights. Can I make a conditional offer of $75 (much more than “market value” of ~$50) stating if the board chooses to not allow me to become a shareholder (which is the trend and very likely, meaning they have to buy the shares at offer price of $75), that I want a $10/share return to me from the seller?

MBB moms - It has been a dream of mine to work at one of the top 3 consulting firms. I didnt make it a priority as I thought I had time but Hubs and I started talking about family and I feel that the dream is getting further away. Is it still possible to be heavily involved at home and with kids and work at MBB? Is there some sort of flexibility that allows working parents to be present with their families? ( e.g : logging off at 4p and logging back on at 8p )

Has anyone moved to NYC from a completely opposite city with their pup? How did you train them to go potty on the sidewalk and be confident around that many people/noises?

I’ve recently been getting a bit annoyed by my parents and older brother. Neither of us brothers is married yet. I seem to be a lot more invested in wanting to get married compared to him, but my parents want me to wait until he gets married. I’m trying to be understanding but this has been going on for like 2 years now. May Allah forgive me.

New in town, where do I go to meet people (for friends and dating)?

Additional Posts in Sales

I have been with my company 20+ years. This past year they did a sales market restructure - directions from new upper management. The restructure has been less than favorable toward my commission goals. The coming years don’t look promising. There are sales people making $$$ only here 1-2 years because they were given all my opportunities. It is hard to leave this company - it has been great until now with the changes. I have a very strong job offer elsewhere - but worried about non compete.

@Hi fellow fishbowl peeps! This one is for folks who are or have been @Accenture in SM in sales capture role. Would you please help me understand a day in life for this role as well as Growth or exit opportunities? How long does it take to get promoted if you work hard and show results… How about diversity and culture? Thanks in advance for helping a fella!

Tech companies are mostly built up of 22ish-40ish year olds (not data, just how it feels) which makes sense as tech has been booming for only 20ish years. What happens in the next 10-20 years when the ones who are older for tech now, become actually old for the workforce. Do we get phased out by young people due to lack of relevancy? Or will we have 50-60 year old SAAS sales people, project managers, etc, still in the space and about to retire?

Amazon - Hi all! I have an application in for a Senior Account Manager-Strategic Account Services role, and it’s been showing “under consideration” for about 2 weeks now. Is that a good or bad sign? I have yet to be contacted by anyone regarding next steps or anything.

The company I work for (SaaS) has little to no inbound leads coming in. We mostly do outbound work. At the top of your head, what do you think could be the main reasons for this?

Hi Fishies,

I’m looking for some advice on the best companies to apply to as an AE/ Account Manager new to the North American market! The majority of the positions that I have previously worked are combined closer and customer service positions, completing end-to-end sales including the hunt, the close and the retention process!

My experience is in the FMCG sector, Real Estate and hospitality. I am interested in positions in the tech industry and would appreciate any referrals to companies.

Was just let go today due to performance. They said it was because I didn't close a sale in 4 months. However for these 4 months I've been grooming multiple focus accounts that are pretty much a slam dunk at this point. I have multiple quotes on my Directors desk to review before I can present to a customer (worth $500K). These quotes have been sitting there for almost two weeks but the performance issue is on my end?

What would you all have done differently?

Today I was thinking about different sales experiences I’ve had–both as the buyer & the salesman. What was the best and/or worst sales experience you’ve ever had as a customer?

Hiring an AE to sell data science consulting services and investor relation type services. We are a SaaS platform with a huge proprietary data set that gives us a competitive advantage. NYC based preferred. US preferred. Also looking for someone in Singapore to sell our SaaS product. They would lead the entire region.

Might be a long shot, but…
Anyone here working within the asbestos abatement industry or actually just the remediation industry in general that can share their experiences with suppliers of gear and materiel?
And if you’re a supplier, what are your biggest challenges at the moment?

I have started my career in SaaS sales and currently work ex of just 1.5 years. I'm confused that to grow, should I start searching for an SDR role in an early stage startup or look for an MNC? I feel my growth in current role has been shunted and going nowhere

Gartner I’m currently interviewing for an AE (conferences) position and was curious to hear from some people within on how many people hit their quota, how attainable it is to blow it out and just some inside info on what day to day is like in a position like this. Also coming from someone with no outside sales face to face experience I was curious what it’s like making that transition.

Anyone go from SaaS / licensing sales to services (strategy & implementation) sales?

I'm thinking of moving from large cap tech to large cap consultancy firm to help build the resume and round out my experience. I enjoy and do well in licensing, but I'm fairly young in my career (<6 years) and received a great offer to make the move.

Big fan of the org and team I'll be joining as well.

aws isr l4 offer what should I expect? Hopefully it’s better than current situation at IBM

Hi all I'm interviewing for a role as a BDR in Dublin in cloud computing. I graduated in 2020 (bachelors) and have worked as a sales manager at a store. They offer € 33k/year and € 22k in commission with relocation fees etc.
It seems like a great company and I'm really interested. Is the salary good for Dublin? And for someone starting their career?

Can someone help me navigate this situation?

I was RIFd and have been without a role for longer than I'd like.

I'm in the final stage of a great opportunity and think I have a great shot at. But, it's probably a week away before they make a decision.

Today I got an offer from another company that is similar $$ to the role above, but I'm not really sure if it's the right fit and what I want to be doing. It is an offer with good money and nervous to turn it down.

Advice on how to handle?
