In conflicts for a lateral to AmLaw 50 and just had the firm come back with some follow up questions. Fair to say the process (and wait) is almost over? Complacency is becoming real.

Yes. The decision to hire you was already made. Very rarely would conflicts change that.

Anybody on here have a problem with a partner in that he seems to be a bit obsessed with you? I work at a smaller firm so there's no HR, but the guy keeps on hitting on me and telling me I'm (cont)

I have a job interview on zoom today. My mom will be in the living room with my six month old son and I’ll be in my bedroom. I feel so anxious that they’ll hear my son in the background if he cries or something. I keep thinking they might think I’m unprofessional. Writing this out to let my anxiety out a little.

Question for the Biglaw Bowl: How common is it to take a pay cut when being promoted from associate to income partner? I had heard about this happening at some lower ranked V100 firms. But now that I’m more senior and my friends are making partner, it sounds like it’s a lot more common than I thought and happens at firms where I wouldn’t expect it. Does anyone here have any insight into this? How common is it, how much of a pay cut, and how long until your pay catches up to associate pay?

the main partner I work for hasn’t been giving me consistent enough work (or type I want) so while I work for him still on some deals, I’ve had to go and get other work from other partners. He doesn’t regularly check in on what I’m working on. He keeps volunteering me for projects without checking if I have capacity and if he expected to know everything I’m working on… he would’ve thought I was just doing nothing the last 2 months. I don’t know how to address this workload balancing with him!

Had someone lateral into our firm as a fifth year (soon to be sixth). They were kind of a retool and went from small law to the firm I’m at. They are still learning a lot of basic stuff, and I think it’s weird that the firm hired someone at that level as a retool. They sometimes ask me for help with stuff, but I’m just getting annoyed at this point. Can I just say “no” since they’re about to be a mid/senior associate who should know all of this?
