Comp question. Interviewing at Facebook (Meta) for Growth Marketing Manager role, remote/Hybrid in NYC. Meta Recruiter said base $145k, bonus, $65k equity & Base was not negotiable. However this seems a bit lowball. Compared to 180+ base I’ve seen on Glassdoor and base Meta shared for the role for those from Colorado ~157k, the base is low given higher cost of NYC living. Is it possible to negotiate this to be closer to the 157-160k range? Currently a growth manager, 6+ years exp in marketing.

Yes, it’s called a “position intake form”. If you google it, you can see a few different versions.
Thank you!! This helps
Job/Position Requisition should come from Hiring Manager to start the recruitment process, with proper approvals from management and I'd encourage a copy of the job description be submitted along with it. Things to be asked would be position title, supervisor or manager name, location, onsite/remote/hybrid, salary details (assuming a salary structure is already in place- if not, this should be vetted and approved by appropriate management), hours of work.
Salary ranges should be vetted to determine and maintain fairness. This would be a good time to determine if the role is appropriate for things like a sign on bonus, other bonuses, relocation packages, visa sponsorship eligibility, etc.
The Intake Meeting occurs shortly after as long as the role is approved. This is the appropriate time to get other details, like separating need to have vs nice to haves of the Knowledge/Skills/abilities, key experience, conversations about culture of the group and the managers leadership style, and set the expectations on what the recruiting plan is and how you'll communicate.
Hope this helps.
It certainly does! We do all of this, I'm just looking for a more structured intake form to get the managers thinking so we can dive right into the skill set in the intake meeting. Often times, the managers come back adding soemthing which they might have forgotten to add. While I don't like to be rushing through the intake meeting, I do want it to be efficient and productive. Appreciate your detailed insights! Thank you.
Also if your company has a applicant tracking system this might be something that could be automated to dlow to the right approvers and then come back to you.
We do not have an ATS at the moment but it's in works.
Do you mean a form communicating the job description or do you mean a justification for why they need to fill said position? Sorry but I couldn't tell from your phrasing!
Sorry if I wasn't clear. I manage recruitment process for multiple divisions and very often tiny details get missed. Despite having a detailed communicated recruitment process to hiring managers, I often encounter situations where the headcount has not been approved by the upper management, or the salary range that they have in mind is way below the market range/and the set compa ratio. In order to manage these situations, I am looking to put together a fillable pdf or Microsoft form not sure. But I am looking for ideas of what typically other companies do. I can't be the only recruiter with this problem after all 😂
They usually pass along a summary of the experience and skills they are looking for, what level the role is, etc.
Where I work that process is usually handled through rhe HM requesting through workday and it goes to HR and finance for a finance id then gets assigned to the recruiter
Since you don't have an ATS yet, I suggest using Google Forms to create an intake form. A couple example questions could be: Title of new role? Salary range? What is the business case for this request? What approvals have you received for this role? What are the must haves and experience needed for the role? Link to job description. Who will be interviewing this candidate? All of the submission will be viewable individually and also in a Google Sheet format. There is even an "approval process" plugin that you can add that can send to the team lead and then finance or whoever needs to sign off, in sequential order.
Fantastic!!! I'm definitely looking into this. Thanks a bunch
Normally a requisition will have all tasks and prerequisites the job entails, but conversations about what this person might ideally be like normally happen outside of a document or job description.
Mainly the years in the industry and the degree required. Additionally comes particular skills related to the job, and Lastly, soft skills like good communication, time management, etc.
