Deloitte question. I have always gotten a raise each year, the only question I ask is how much of a raise do I get. But I’m hearing from former Deloitte folks, it is naive to expect annual raises each year however small/big they are? And how does this play in Deloitte consulting vs advisory? Do one tend to withhold annual raises in base salary over the other, or is this just a deloitte culture thing? Looking at exit opportunities all over. So lmk! I’d Rather get a small raise than none at all.

Fascinating article, but it's from 2014... I'd say his efforts to sway his rich friends aren't going so well.
Absolutely - all the time
Yes, I almost quit my first consulting internship because they wanted me to work for a tobacco company. Fortunately the project did not involve trying to increase sales. I’ve also raised concerns to leadership about clients requests actually not being in their own interest (or the overall interest of the company).
@C1 I think that article is more prescient than ever... I think the rise of the extremes in western politics/society (Brexit, anti-immigrant rhetoric, trump, le pen, alt-right/far left) is a reaction to inequality and "elites" and if the "elites" and davos folks don't recognize that and do something to mitigate things it's going to get less stable before it gets better
Usually no, but I did on my latest project. I can imagine feeling conflicted if I were a Mck consultant on one of these projects. Especially if I was still giving recommendations I personally believed in, but the client ignored them (as clients often do), and then the fact that we did a project for them comes back to bite us in the ass just for the association.
How responsible are we for the results of our work? What do you do with those concerns?
That article made me wonder about the people who were staffed on those McK engagements.... I share some of the public outrage, but I can also imagine experiencing the feeling of solving a complex problem, combined with the pressure to perform and the constant competitiveness and the frantic overwork all combining to make it feel impossible not to get the job done to the best of your ability, even when the results of that job make the world worse.
Did the engineers who designed nuclear weapons delivery systems worry that their work might be used to end the planet? They were probably paid less
I do automation work so yeah I feel bad all the time especially when I need their help to map their job processes.....
