In middle market TAS, but considering a jump up to Big 4. Is the name on resume worth the 75+ hours a week.

Lol that’s what middle market says to scare you from moving to B4. Moved from middle market to B4 and hours are less overall for me. Way less.

I’m a 3rd year manager in FDD, been in the group for over 4 years and I may have hit 75 hours twice?

like

Senior manager in FDD, 5 years in the group. Hit 75 hours maybe 2-3x as well.

OP what market you in and how long have you been in TAS? DM me if you would like to chat and discuss a potential referral.

like

Not sure about anyone else.. but I’m in NYC and I’m not putting in those types of hours.. maybe on one deal within the past year. But I’d say go for it

like

The move is worth it based on the clients, the teams and complex transaction experience (and likely salary). People work hard everywhere.

like

75 hour weeks are pretty rare, especially at lower levels where you’re only on one team and not juggling multiple projects. Normal is more like 45-54 but week to week varies a lot. For me the bigger question would be is the comp hit worth it - some middle market comp is way better than big4 fdd.

The comp will catch up/surpass when you hit Manager at Big4. Will Big4 be favorable/honor promotion if you’re up for promotion to Manager on the same cycle. For example, having the potential to be promoted to Manager this July.

I don't think TAS works more than 50 hours ever lol.

That's not true, sometimes the deal just needs to get done.

I work in a fairly specialized industry and have had difficulty finding a role to get out of my current gig that works me 70-80 hrs /wk. I had two offers that both offer title and pay bump. An ok big 4 offer and another firm that I was honestly more interested in for a few reasons. In any case the recruiter and I negotiated my offer and the letter was making the rounds for approval. It ended up not getting approved because it was above their budget (~10k). Essentially they are unable to offer..

How was your experience coming off the BCP? I just stopped a couple of weeks ago to get my body ready to have an baby soon-ish and I’m pretty nervous.

I’m being offered a role as systems engineer (feels more like a sales engineer) in the energy industry.
Frequent travels required through Europe 6 months out of the year. Responsible for tech consultation with customers on pre-sales, system integration post-sale + training customers on product /fixing problems on their site.

The interviewer said to me to add 30% on my current salary and ask for that. Now I’m asking for £97k. Reasonable?

How do I argument £97k when they try to negotiate?
