Does anyone at Rutgers know where I can find a flexible part-time job for students on campus? I only found two campus positions on handshake and haven’t heard back from either yet. I feel like there has to be a lot more out there than what I’ve seen on handshake
Something similar to the digital classroom support specialist or tech help desk would be great. I consider myself tech savvy

I've been at my current school for 8 years and have had 3 principals at this site. I don't keep very close tabs on my prior schools but I know both went through administration changes when or not long after I left.

Years ago, when I was a new teacher, I worked at a school where the entire administration came from that school. Our principal had been a teacher and coach then an assistant principal an finally principal. He’d spent his entire career, 35 years, at that school. It was amazing! The connections they all had having been there for generations of students. I loved that school! It was not a small school nor the only high school in that district (it was one of 4). Yet, it was a close staff. We had bbq’s together at the beginning and end of the year. We did happy hours. We celebrated Christmas before the break together. I miss that school and the family we created there.
I’m in the little old building in our district. 6 principals in 12 years until we complained. We were, in effect, training the principals for the rest of the district. Not fair. Current principal is going on four years.
30 years 4 principals

I’ve had three principles in 5 years. I think it’s how they justify silly and useless initiatives and still sleep at night.
I’m in year 12 full time and year 15 total under the same principal. Sorry
That's amazing
Do they go to other schools? Move to district office? Or leave the profession? It would be interesting to find out where they go after they leave. Often times people go into admin with good intentions, with the genuine desire to make an impact on a school-wide level, only to realize once they take on a school how political it can be, and how much their hands are truly tied. Frustrated, they either go back to the classroom or leave the profession in many cases (but not all).
Ours stay about 5 years on average
I have had many admin. The district I was in was rotating admin every 2-4 years to keep them from becoming complacent
Let's see... 6 principals in 7 years, different assistant principals and 4 different superintendents as well.
😫
7 yrs - 5 principals.
Wow!
Two I know of retired but for the rest they moved up to a higher position within the district to get their three highest paid year to retire sadly. Our district either makes up a title and pays them a crazy amount of money.
I guess you can't blame those who have learned to game the system. Make a better system right?

16 years- 3 supers, 3 principals, 8 asst principals. A couple have retired. Most just moved on to different positions.
We’re lucky if we get an AP.
Sixteen years, seven principals

25 years in one school, and only 2 principals. Several assistants.
Wow!
We have experienced a districtwide revolving door. At the HS, we will start this year with all former teachers in admin positions. Wonder how long they will stay? The rest of us just move along with our own motivation and leadership. Sad to say but last year the principal left @ 3rd quarter with interim principal, interim APs, interim Deans, etc. and graduates who never met their Administrators.
7 years, 3 districts, 4 schools, 5 principals
I think it's similar most places
Sadness
Mostly they want to move on up to Superintendent. We have had 4 in 11 years. Had a really bad one in there who was totally cutthroat on the teaching staff. I guess this got her noticed and up into another district as Superintendent. They booted her after one year. Karma.

My current school: every 3 years before they move to the central office or a bigger district. We can set our watches to their tenure.
