In my first trimester, feeling depressed and under the weather and struggling at work- does anyone have any coping tips? I am extremely fortunate that my firm is still remote.

First of all congratulations and sorry to hear you are feeling this way! I don’t have a lot of great advice - first trimester can be tough! If you’re home, try to structure your day so that you can take a mental break, rest, etc. I did my best to set some boundaries to take the time I needed (easier said than done). Do something for yourself everyday and get yourself to second trimester - hopeful things will get easier for you then!

Thank you! This was kind and helpful

I went through this a couple of months ago and I wish I’d just given in to napping more. I ended up working so hard that I had a total breakdown and ended up taking 3 days off and sobbing to my (male) boss on the phone. Would have been easier to just nap a bit 😬 Also green tea helped, and walks even if they were 15 min.

Does anyone have any advice for applying to remote positions? How do I stand out? Most of my experience is in healthcare, clinical and administrative. My company is in need of a update online, could use your opinions! We need to better showcase our culture (caring, supportive, fun, intelligent IT industry leaders) as well as diversity. We are predominantly white still but making strides to improve here. What’s the best way to approach? I don’t want to seem disingenuous or that we are singling out our diverse employees (asking for photos). We have a remote and on-site workforce about 350+ EEs. Non white EEs make up about 35% of the company rn.

I’ve seen a couple posts lately with comments saying that people should not use a Roth 401k. Does the logic below capture the spirit of that concept?
1. Use trad. 401k to reduce taxable income now. Convert to trad. IRA once retired, then convert gradually to Roth IRA (ladder, SEPP, etc.) at lowest marginal tax rate
2. Use Roth IRA (and/or backdoor Roth) to take advantage of tax free growth and ability to withdraw principal early without penalty

So I posted a bit ago about getting IV hydration and vitamins. You guys gave me the courage to try it. After I had it done, I didn't feel much of a difference and figured I just spent a bunch of $ to relax for an hour in a massage chair. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But this has been the best week I've had energy-wise in the last seven months. And I kind of wish I could post before/after pics because apparently I was very bloated. I've been focusing on keeping up with my hydration at home. Thx ladies!

Advice needed! I started at an ID firm only a few months ago after a long stint doing in-house litigation. I was referred to the firm by a very good friend who also still works there. Recalling my first onboarding meeting in-house with the c - suite. Thinking back now recalling that they would often mention if someone they are referring to is a woman. For example, "Oh we have these two women doing x, y, and z and they do it well, a well-oiled machine." etc. I was the only woman in the room. They did not mention when someone performing a particular role was a man but they did point out when it's a woman, happened about four times. Odd, no? What would you make of this?
