Definitely worth the money but also I think there should be channels for you to get insurance coverage for the visits given your risk factors, it's not exactly elective since you know there is a strong family history.
It’s good to think ahead about this. Your regular OBGYN can do some initial tests and recommend a reproductive endocrinologist if needed. Ask about testing LH, FSH, and AMH (typically on day 3 of your cycle) and ultrasound for follicle count.
If you know the genetic causes of infertility in your family, there might be gene testing too. Never done or head of that, but medicine changes and I don’t know everything. Do you know much about their infertility?

Definitely understand the sensitivity with family members, it's a hard topic to discuss openly 😕
Infertility itself is not usually hereditary however conditions that cause infertility can be (e.g., PCOS, endometriosis, thyroid, weight issues, diabetes etc.). Learning about your mother's fertility as well as other women in your family is probably most valuable to understand your own risk factors. Your uncle's sperm count is probably less relevant to your risk.

If you can, I would honestly ask your family what their fertility issues are. For example, do they have low ovarian reserve? If so, you could then go to your OB and ask for some work ups based on your concerns. Depending on what they find they could refer you to an RE and it could be covered.
Good point. It’s certainly a sensitive topic, but it’s worth probing next time I see them.

Check out modern fertility. They test your blood and help give some callouts on fertility to help you get ahead of anything. I did it and got some feedback on my thyroid. I think they might be selling the kits in Wal-mart now.

Some insurance plans will cover egg freezing. Even regardless of the fertility question, it might make you more relaxed about the whole “finding a soulmate” thing if you didn’t have to give a moments thought to your biological clock. I think it would be very freeing actually.
