I’m keeping that to myself, just because it’s all currently evolving right now. Feel like it’s inappropriate to air out identifiable stuff while my firms work could end up being used as part of the legal process.

If it helps, this was not a publicly traded company. So their information (albeit except for the SEC announcement and some local news) is not as publicly available as you would imagine. I don’t work for my PA firm anymore, so I have no reason to be quiet. But I respect the hell out of my managing partner, who issued the adverse and I know he’d not like me airing it out.

A former consulting client for whom I did good work for years ago asked me to head up a new project. I sent over a management services agreement for a fee plus 4.9% equity (to stay under the radar)- he returned to me a term sheet for CEO with employment agreement at roughly the same terms. Good problem to have, but I offered him a good deal on what I thought would be a two year project with flexibility and low risk. Now he is asking me to take on the risk, be a figurehead, and …

I need to put together a list of matters I’ve worked on at my current firm for a conflicts check.

Most of my work is employer advising that doesn’t result in litigation, although it’s entirely possible something I advised on could result in a lawsuit. I’m confused as to whether I should provide a list of clients I’ve work with or just litigation/arbitration matters?

Either way, do I only provide the client name or what exactly do they typically need?

Hi, looking for some advice. I have been through 3 rounds of interviews with a global medical device company that I am really excited about. Just found they are thinking about putting the position on hold for Q4 due to budget constraints. I have one final round (in person over lunch tomorrow). Although I appreciate the transparency, and realize possible recession finances is this normal or should I be concerned? Should I suggest contract to perm opps? Is it too much to push for an offer by EOW?

When are people going to realize that nothing is going to go back to normal anytime soon? We’re in a different world. People are in denial if anyone is making plans in the short term.

A vent - My niece is having her first non-family-only birthday at a skate rink. I really REALLY want to go skating 😭😭😭 , but know it's a bad idea due to fall risk. I'm debating not going to help me resist temptation and avoid the questions on why I'm not skating.

One weak spot of mine is journal entry testing, specifically buckets. Doesn’t come to me as fast as others when they say out loud “debit to this account, credits to those accounts are in our risk group. If it debits hits this account, it’s not risk.” Seems like people are able to just talk in the Debit and credit language faster and better than me. Any suggestions on how to improve?

Audit Partners — Do you see longterm profitability of audit in general? Is it going to be worth being a partner, financially, given the risk you take on, in 10-15 years? With audit bids increasingly being driven way down by competition, & lower level resources demanding (much) higher pay than it was historically, I’m not convinced the partner track is still as enticing as it was pre-Covid. Seems like the job market/higher staff pay alone has GOT to be taking a huge cut into partner pay.
