What should Kitchen Manager’s be making a year?
You need to leave. You shouldn’t respect a company that doesn’t find the “value” in your work.
At least go out and get a good job offer to see if they will counter once you officially threaten to leave! They may not counter so be prepared to leave at that point.
I agree. Get another offer in hand and ask to match or slightly below that. When presenting the offer say “I prefer staying but i have another opportunity at XX salary. Can you match that?” At that point you will know how much they really value you.
Leave. If they wanted you like they say they do, they would have paid.
Yeah time to get a new job. If this juncture was that critical to operations they would pay you more. The bottom line is they are basically gambling you won’t quit if they pay you less than market. Call their bluff.

Best meme for this. Thanks everyone.
Yup, time to look elsewhere. I was working with a great team at a great company, but after 2-3 years of asking for a growth/promotion path, they kept denying it. I received an offer elsewhere, without negotiating that was 50% above my then current salary. Sometimes, strangers will see your value better than your longtime employer…
Ps- my boss tried fighting for me apparently but it was to no avail. I can tell my lesser is disappointed. What's tough for me here is I love my high performing team, our skills and personalities mesh well and were doing great work. We're at such a critical juncture as a team with our projects. I have no reason to leave other than this, I can't stomach what they've justified doing here. It'll only breed more issues later. And I can't afford financially to stay. Just needed some support.
I completely understand how upsetting that would be, and I'm sorry you're going through this. Try re-framing it this way: your family and friends are also a team that you've made more of a commitment to than your coworkers. Are there any special life projects (buying/fixing up a house, traveling, a wedding, having a kid, investing in yourself in some way like going back to school, an expensive hobby you'd like to take up) that would be better serviced with the money that comes from a job that pays you what you're worth? Would the mental space opened up by not having to stress about your terrible management allow you to put more resources toward those goals? A career is made up of many jobs, and it's worth separating out this one job experience from the whole trajectory of your career.

You’ve made your argument and they disagreed. The best decision here, if you’re going to Bre sin preoccupied by your lack of salary, is to leave. It’s unfortunate but this just happened to me.
Unless you’re in love with this job it’s time to leave.
I definitely am but I still can't stomach the message they're sending.
I agree...value and appreciation goes both ways . Go see what your value is really worth on the market. Go get an offer and present it to them and see if they will match it. However in all these activities keep it professional and respectful. Don't burn bridges in the process
