Writing, Speaking (and knowing when not to).

I want to say empathy, but the narcissistic traits seem to really help in upper management.

Agree with EY1. Especially those coming in right out of school, for many public speaking doesn’t seem to be a strong suit. When you start talking to your clients or when you’re speaking in front of a large group (including a number of partners), you have to sound professional. It’s embarrassing sometimes listening to hear how some people speak.

@D2. Lol you’re right. I didn’t read the entire post. I’ll take this one on the chin 😅

IT systems integration, analysis or deep knowledge of systems.

A foreign language. If you ever leave public accounting for a more consulting-focused role, will open lots of doors.

I'm currently working in a heritage field trying to figure out the best career pivot and have been working in the survey/data depts for the last 3 years. My knowledge is self taught but I feel like I'm missing out on the basics and to move into something like Data Management my current role it's more about fixing problems and writing procedures (which I enjoy). Any advice on how to start with data management/ training so that I can move into a more standard, better paid career eventually?

Ladies, I need work/fashion tips. I work in center city Philadelphia. Our dress code is “business casual.” I want to implement more outfits with sneakers. I struggle with what hem length and pant style (tapered, flare, etc.) work best.
When I look on Pinterest, most of the results show very casual work outfits w/ sneaks & while I think dark wash jeans, blouse and blazers can look cute/presentable, it’s not appropriate for my office (I’m in healthcare).

As a senior, I am dealing with trying to get answers from management but those above me want to be the filter and asker of all questions with the client. That is fine, each team has a preference.

But the questions do not seem to get asked or when they do the answer isn't right. How do others deal with this issue?

How do you not care / stress way too much about your job? I am a mom and stressed out most workday evenings thinking about the work / interactions during the day. I have heard TEd talks about compartmentalizing job vs personal life , mindfulness etc , but I don’t change. I could literally leave my job & focus on kids alone & be fine as husband is in a executive position. Yet, it’s my own career focus & my self induced stress and pressure that takes a toll on me. What’s your advice for me?
