I jumped from 75 to 105. I know a friend who pulled off 110 from 75. Better yet, don’t tell them your current pay and just tell what you want. I recommend starting at 115. Be aggressive.
Linkedin you are talking base right? Also, you have to account for the fact that you’re in SF so 150k is more like making 90-100k in another medium size city. Also, you must’ve interviewed well and also went to a great school. I’m like 90% sure of this. They don’t just hand out those type of offers to anyone that’s in consulting for a couple of yrs
@D1 Former Deloitte S&O. It’s 115K base + 10% bonus + 25K stock yearly.
Yes I interviewed well and went to a great school. Three of my friends also got similar offers from other FAANG type companies. Even startups would pay $130-140K in SF though.
Yes SF is expensive but the perks are way better than other cities so I’d judge it as comparable to $120-130K in a medium size city.
@EY The 150K represents only cash comp. I don’t value free beer either but I do value no premium healthcare, 50% 401K match, student loan payments. Those 3 benefits alone add ~35K to my comp.
Regardless I do think you should be asking for more. Friends that went to retail corporate strategy in Midwest got 120K.
I’m in m&a and don’t have head hunters coming out of the woodwork, what am I doing wrong? I want to go from 90k to higher salary more interesting work as described in this thread , if anyone has tips would love to discuss
To 30% hike being offered by Sopra Steria my current organization is willing to give 23% right now while rest and more in upcoming hike cycle. Will getting back to Sopra Steria to raise the offer make sense?
I’m looking at a few positions at Square. How are the benefits there. I’m the sole breadwinner in a family of 6 so healthcare is important. Do they cover any percentage for the employee or dependents? Do they offer phone allowance? Any other cool benefits?
Don’t leave yet. It only gets better from here.

I went from 90 to 130
Way too low. Went from 77K to 150K with 2 years experience.

Where are you all getting headhunter contacts?!
How are you getting these head hunter contacts?
I went from 105 to 145. Still shocked a couple years later at the bump, but also felt it reflected the lower pay.

You should ask for AT LEAST 25% increase in salary
For those of you who got those #s did they ask you how much you were making?
Add 20% to whatever you’re making if someone flat out asks and at least 5% to your bonus.
LinkedIn into what role?
@L1 what role were you in before?
Consulting to Corporate Strategy
Also, what firm did you work for before and what were you doing strategy or tech implementations?
@L1 I guess I’m more thinking base, not all in. I would argue that how far my dollar goes versus yours is a far better perk than free beer at work
