What an artful lesson on making a deal!
https://www.linkedin.com/posts/lnovack_covid-people-testing-activity-6880127560836005888-gPKn I’m lost at this point. I originally heard 10 days from symptoms starting (which is a bit ambiguous with omicron given how mild it is). Then I heard from an MD I should be fine in 4-5 days. Then I heard wait 3 days from a negative test. I tested positive Tuesday after noticing a tickle in my throat Sunday. I actually got tested due to a headache Tuesday, not the throat. Now my symptoms are gone. Bottom line, I really don’t want to get anyone sick, but when the heck is a self isolation over?
I am so sick and tired of this garbage ass cold weather in DC. It’s freaking mid MARCH. Dc is an awesome city and it can’t be enjoyed 8 months of the year because of its crap weather. Argh
I got sick with what I at first thought was stomach bug last Sunday (vomiting, fatigue, then crazy chills and body aches). Lasted 1 day. My nose was also a bit congested, so went to get a pcr on Monday and got a positive result. Tested again at 2 diff places on Wed - 2 negatives. All pcr. Had no symptoms since Sunday. Has anyone had something similar happen to them? Was it just false positive (everyone’s been saying that almost never happens), or just super mild case of Covid?
I’m stuck in an endless loop. I’m sick with an autoimmune, and the autoimmune makes me depressed because it controls my life (I’m unable to do really anything). The more depressed I get, the worse the autoimmune gets. …it’s a never ending cycle…
This is going to sound nuts. But, based on the close, here is the tip. LESSON: Check out where we closed on Friday and where we closed today. Same spot. Tip: Markets don't like to create a significant low or high on a Friday afternoons or Mondays. Very often they will trade their previous setup on Tuesday . . . Meaning, this sustained bullish trend can take us up to 3111.25 on a HWB Short or 3139.50 61.8% without blinking an eye. It's like the dip into lows never existed.
Ski newbie here. Invited to a ski trip out west in a few months and have never skied before, only snowboarded. Any recos for a place not too far from the city (accessible by train or bus) to visit to take lessons?
If I resign this week, my medical insurance will expire almost immediately after I resign right? My therapist is out of network and he sends invoices and receipts by the end of each month. So that means I technically cannot claim reimbursement from my insurance for my January therapy expenses, right?
I have a 5th grade demo lesson tomorrow and the school would like for me to do it on social emotional learning. Any suggestions on what I can do?
U.K.’s impressive strategy for the coronavirus, which includes stopping all contact tracing and testing only for the severely ill! 🤪 https://www.instagram.com/p/B9xOurKg-lW/?igshid=w7v9ajrkz6sr
Anyone else have hyperemesis gravidarum (currently or in the past)? I had it in my previously pregnancy and ended up booking 300 sick hours during that fiscal year. Now I have HG again in my second pregnancy and am going on a reduced schedule via short term disability because its even worse this time. I have never met anyone else in public accounting with HG, so just looking to connect/solidarity.
I’ve realized that because socks don’t last long, it’s best not to get attached to them. Maybe this lesson applies more broadly. But I’m sure it at least applies to socks
Got a bit too drunk at a work happy hour. Nothing embarrassing happened but I definitely blacked out and could’ve said stuff that I wouldn’t have said sober. Everyone else was also drinking quite a bit, so it was fine but not ideal and I’ve just been ashamed. Lesson learned. This happen to anyone? How do you get over the shame/anxiety of “what happened?”
Ill still take that cheese curl dough
🐠 fam, happy 2019! I would like to benefit from actionable best practices and lessons you have “personally” adopted to reduce procrastination or be more inspired (in general, not just at work). Go!
4 months, 7 interviews, all done and dusted, numerous congratulations mails and messages and now they say they can’t offer the job. Weird flex, but not okay 🤬 IBM, you shithole.
So am I crazy to think my nanny will be able to take care of a four year old, two year old, and baby by herself all day? The older ones don’t do any preschool right now due to combo of pandemic and having a newborn sibling. Nanny is great and experienced and doesn’t seem concerned but god knows I find the days pretty tough when my nanny is out and my husband is working and I’ve got all three alone all day. They’ll all be fine, right?
Hi, would love some advice! I’ve been at my company ~1 yr and feeling like I need a change due to various reasons. Not sure if I can apply elsewhere w/ a little less than 1 yr under my belt, and I don’t have many connections in my area. Right now, I play a BSA role on my team, and I’m hoping to pursue product/UX design. I’m also doing a UX bootcamp in the spring & working on a udemy course outside of work for UX/UI. What’s a good stepping stone role (remote preferred)?

Not an American so a little confused by health insurance here. If I got a plan that says it'll cover 80% of a procedure, but there's $1000 deductible, does the 80% coverage not kick in until (cont.)
I have a work experience of 3 years 1st year as software engineer in Capgemini Then did mba Then 2 years at wipro as Functional consultant Now i am plaaning to switch I also have frm level 1 certification How much hike can i ask in my new company?
McKinsey & Company folks, a recruiter reached out about a solution associate role. I’m guessing this isn’t a “real” McKinsey associate role and more like Deloitte’s USDC or PDM where it has the brand name but isn’t valued the same as “core” consulting. Is this guess correct? Any thoughts on the solution roles?
Been living in NY the past 3 years at an agency. Im interviewing for a role in LA and excited/nervous. Felt like I didn’t really get to experience NYC because of the pandemic and now I might be leaving. Good opportunity, but have never been lived in the west coast and not sure how to decide. Advice ? Anyone going through it too?
If you had two options: - Move to an agency you are not passionate about/didn’t click with the team, but have an amazing offer/benefits OR - Stay at your current agency you love but make considerably less money/there is less potential for upward growth What would you do?
West Munroe 🐟 - reviews of firm? I was contacted by a recruiter for analytics opportunities there but I don't know much about west Munroe in terms of culture, pay, projects, work life, travel.
@KPMG How much does an undergraduate intern vs a senior associate intern make in Federal digital lighthouse? I’m applying to an internship that is open to undergrads or grads but I want to be compensated as a grad-level student.
My CEO is literally *always* on Slack. 5 am? Online. 11 pm? Online. Saturday, Sunday, holidays? Online. I know I’m not really expected to work around the clock (though I often do), but having him never, ever not be online is stressing me out. How do y’all deal with this? Just put it out of your mind?
Anyone have any tips for negotiating a raise? I am getting a promotion this year but am worried that the raise will be below market. Planning on using Glassdoor to show comparable salaries.
EY Parental leave question: how many weeks were you actually out? When I took my leave 3 years ago, I counted total of 21 weeks of leave. That’s including one firm winter holiday week. I remember I initially thought I would be back after 16 weeks, but then in the middle of my time off I got an email from Leave Team with the breakdown and it actually was 21 weeks. Can someone who took leave recently tell me the actual number of weeks?
My one year at first out of college job is coming up, despite conditions - should I still ask for a raise and a formal virtual performance review. (It is a small firm and they will avoid it if I don’t bring it up). The firm has been making the same if not more profits than they usually would. Thanks!
