I would be gently pushing back.
Are these standard parts of their process - check the box activities that the recruiter forgot to mention? Or what?
9 people + a case study should be enough for them to make a decision, IMO. If they don’t value your time when they are trying to woo you, what would they be like to work for?
Time to bail out as a candidate. Red flags all over the place with this one.
edit: I'm thinking they have another candidate they like better and waiting to hear back from them and they're just stalling you.
Nope nope nope.
I dont know when or why interviews got so lengthy. That’s a red flag.
They just lost out on a good candidate.
That sounds like ALOT. When I interviewed at Abercrombie a couple of years ago they had me take a wonderlic test, had me meet with SO many people and do a massive project which was to create a mock up/ full seasonal line of one of their brands. Took me like 2 full weeks, and then had 2 full days of interviews with numerous people (16 hours worth) on top of maybe 4 other interviews before that and I didn’t even end up getting it.
Your situation seems similar and totally excessive. It all depends on how much you want this job. Also, remember you are interviewing them just as much as they are interviewing you!!
Always say no to work that could be billable. 2 weeks of your time for free? No way.
I would push back. Besides the fact you’ve already done plenty, aptitude and personality tests are garbage and could unfairly disqualify you after all this time you’ve put toward this. If it’s a checkbox and they don’t care about the results that’s one thing (still extremely stupid), but to have you go through all these steps and then hand you an arbitrary test that they can reject you for scoring “wrong”? Nah.
Unless it’s $25kz more than what you’re making don’t do it
It seems like a lot, but it really depends on what other vibes you are getting about the company/department/hiring manager. If they are signaling they want you and their thoroughness is because they are careful about who they hire and want to make sure it's a good fit, it could be a sign of a positive aspect of the culture.
I've always been more troubled by positions where I feel like I'm going to get an offer having only done an interview with the HR screener and the hiring manager. How could I possibly make a change without talking to any of my future colleagues?
Now that it has been a week, what happened next?
what company is this?? such a waste of time
It is a red flag, on a red boat, in the middle of a red sea, on a red planet.
U should bail. Red flags on their inability to make decisions or desire to have everyone ‘aligned’ before anyone makes the call. So much red tape
