In the process of qualifying in London. How hard is it to move to the US (NY or DC) as a litigator? I'm guessing I'll need to sit for the bar there, anything else that might be prohibitive?

Good questions. “Sitting the bar” includes a character and fitness process, so be prepared for a thorough background check. There may be questions about your legal education because the state bars are used to dealing with ABA accredited law schools. Your education may just be outside what they generally see. Other than that, it appears you will be able to educate us. Good luck!

“Thorough.” LOL.

You submit an affidavit. There isn’t any further “checking.”

I’m in this process! It depends on how you are qualifying in the UK. If you’ve done the GDL/LPC you will need (in nyc anyway) to take an extra year of law school so your legal education is of the same duration as US law school (3 years total). If you were a law undergrad you’re fine on that (as it is a 3 year course).

I've been following Coforge LinkedIn page, and I have decent offer from them. In one call HR said we will be moving towards 5 days work from Office, to which I said I don't mind. Now that aside, their LinkedIn posts everyone at VP SVP levels are joining.. seems like they are growing very fast, as hiring at such high Positions happens only that time.

Question is - whenever I compare Coforge with any other people say avoid Coforge.. Why????

I'm really lost in my career. Started out in ID and hated it, jumped around and made it out of ID to my desired area. Been at my current firm almost a year, but it's totally toxic and I'm likely being pushed out. Trying to make it work and stay here for as long as I have as I've jumped a lot in a short time and frankly I don't want to jump again. I had the chance to go back to ID and work for an old mentor who is incredible and go back to doing what he does (continued in comments)

California litigators, is it permissible (by California ethics rules or otherwise) to withhold documents/discovery responses from opposing counsel where we propounded discovery months ago and are still waiting on a substantial amount of documents? I am a 7 year litigation associate and so burnt out on it. I want to transition to in house, but have applying and not getting traction. My experience is mostly insurance defense/coverage, and most of the positions out there seem to be for tech or transactional work. I also come from smaller firms and a smaller school, so no big names behind me. All the recruiters I’ve talked to will only peg me as an insurance defense associate and won’t send me anything else. How do I get out of litigation?

How do you get better at handling discovery? I don’t mean drafting requests or responses or staying on top of deadlines. I mean handling all the little meet and confer disputes over narrowing scope, knowing what to push back on, knowing what to and what not to agree to in a protective order. I feel like I’m awful at it and I feel incompetent for asking so many questions about what’s okay, what we can agree to, etc. I’m fairly new and have been tasked with a lot of this lately. I feel lost.
