Former union rep with a Scrum certification here and I get what you’re saying. The major difference is that the team is only leveraging collective action for the ultimate benefit of their employer. They’re not working together to improve their overall working conditions, pay, or benefits or negotiating with management on the terms of their employment.
Completely agree, I guess that's where I was trying to put that "light" modifier on it. Just been something I've brought up to my friends in tech who are anti-union before to mix success. Small steps of getting more people to sympathize, empathize, and then mobilize, right :D
