In this market is it still smart to VTI and chill or even more conservative? Tbonds? We already did ibonds for this year

Time horizon?

If unsure then always money market or ultra short bonds

How much risk are you ok with?
I'm usually ok losing 50% of my portfolio. But most people I know are ok only losing 30%

I meant VTI/fund tied to broad market. Eventually (long term view) we should get back to the same point and surpass it, plus accumulating dividends in the meantime. You wouldn't lose unless you sell

If you may need the money in the next year or three then HYSA or tbills probably makes the most sense. I have no big purchases planned so I'm about 80% DCAing as usual each paycheck but shifted 20% to tbills which is new. Ibonds already maxed and healthy emergency fund already in place.

POV: 2 and s half months into a new job: position internal sales support. Request of SM to find all potential customers in 2 main areas of sales and send them the information of companies name as well as contact name and sort the info from most important company to least, all from scratch.
The SM knows I am new to the industry and have no previous experience in it.
Is this something normal to ask to have done? Is it normal to give a few days to hand in the requested information?

What do you think about bonds

Long time lurker first time poster hoping for your advice. I grew up super poor and managed to put myself through undergrad and business school. However, my post b-school job is not very high-paying ($120k CPG), and I have very little savings. What can I do at this point to maximize my net worth? Open to all suggestions: new job, investments, etc.

I can’t figure out how to link Robinhood on Personal Capital. Anyone have any tips?

Stupid question but I gotta ask. I’ve got like 30k sitting in a checking account, I feel like I should push it into VTI and forget about it, but for some reason I feel like a downturn is on the horizon and I don’t want to lose a chunk of it. Already have plenty in emergency fund, no debt. Already bought my 10k of iBonds.

Do you sell stock to pay tax on gains now, to avoid a larger bill in future when salary is presumably higher?

(1/2) As my first full year of practice comes to a close, it looks like my pre-tax salary for this fiscal year year will be just short of $400k — after year end bonuses are distributed next month (the 400k figure also includes my low base, but 75% of it reflects bonus). As of now, before my bonus has come in, I’ve got 193k student loans, 60k in investments, and 20k in savings. How much of the bonus should I use to pay student loans, and how much should I contribute to my investment portfolio?

R.I.P. my portfolio

What are some of the best ways you have paid off student debt? I have 180k and I want to aggressively lay it off. For context, I am one year into my career and have spent these months getting rid of $20k of consumer debt. Want to be responsible and keep the momentum going.

Is there ever a circumstance where it makes sense to buy a home if you’re not sure you’ll be there 5+ years? What criteria would need to be in place for it to make sense to do that? Currently renting - paying too much - lease is up in Summer 2022 and trying to decide next move. See some townhomes for sale that look great and mortgage would be less than current rent.

Just moved to Florida to be with family. Should I put all my retirement savings into Roth 401k / Roth IRA now that I don’t have state income taxes?

How do I invest in index funds? I have $10k. I want to set it and forget it and check on it once a year. You can recommend a website, person/team, app, or whatever you use. 👍🏻

Or, give me another thing to do with the $10k.

How much savings does a 40 year old realistically need to retire?
For sake of discussion, let’s assume house is paid off, need to purchase decent healthcare, you have a healthy 401k, and are single with no kids.

I’ll guess that you need at least $500,000?
