I joined from the industry with few years of experience as a senior consultant. Initially, I was honest and realistic and would speak up if I felt deadlines or expectation were unrealistic. I learned this from my previous job where I was good at what I was doing and people respected me for that. In consulting, doesnât matter how good you are unless you are Bezos/Gates good. They thought I was arrogant and put me under low performer list without any reason whatsoever. On records, the reason was - I had few areas of improvement. E.g. supply chain process, improve quality of work etc. I was shocked to say the least and from that day, I have been sucking up to not lose my job and things are fine now and they are fine with me. I now donât do anything different from what I did when I joined but I suck up to my bosses and they all like it. All of this to pay my rent, loans and maintain my family.
M1, thanks for that response. Iâm younger than you but have seen this work with higher ups as well. Can you share some examples with me on how you suck up effectively? Happy to dm too
Low performers have attitude problems and make things worse when they touch them.
Average keeps things floating. But wonât wow you. Low performers are detrimental to team/ processes.

Averages meet expectations but set boundaries which keep them from contributing too far beyond that. Lows almost meet expectations but always have an excuse or a reason why they canât do whatâs required of them.
