I think the cat’s out of the bag for 5 day a week in-office requirements. If nothing else it would be terrible for recruiting. My guess (and it’s nothing more than a guess) is that most will end up being a hybrid where most associates have 2-3 days a week in office and 2-3 days WFH

This killed me

Gotta be a per firm thing I think. Apparently at the start of COVID getting serious last year the head head partner sent out an email saying “childcare/lack of” is not a valid WFH reason. Lot of assistants walked that day.

funny

It seems like hoteling will become popular, in which case I will be in the office as little as possible. I will aim for 1 to 2 days per week to maintain my personal office space. I draw the line at 3 days in office per week, and I predict any firm that requires 3 days or more per week will be met with mass resignations.

BCG chicago / midwest people. I’m starting soon at entry-level. What’s the current travel climate like? I know it’s project-by-project but on average what % are we travelling what % at home (and if applicable what % wfh?)

I just received a job offer for a position that better aligns with my skills and education. It’s also something I want to do and would get me out of banking, so to speak. The proposed salary offer is only 10% more than what I am making now, though. I currently have a fully remote job and have tons of free time and flexibility. I love my current job as it affords me time with my kids and it’s stress free. The new job is in an office setting and will have more responsibility. Not sure what to do?

Any PE/M&A 3-5th year Corp attorneys interested in lateraling to my cravath scale BL firm? Actual WLB (no weekend work unless Monday closing), people take 3-4 weeks of vacation a year, and 90% of work that come in after 6:30 can be addressed the next day (unless closing). You can work from any city as long as we have an office there for the NY office, official RTO is 3 days in but most people do 1-2 or are full remote

Hello everyone, I was wondering if the possibility of 100% remote (advertised in papers) is really happening in Deloitte UK. Trying to move from Deloitte PT to Deloitte UK and would like to know if that is a possibility! Thank you!

I’m entry level (2020 grad). Used to work at an awesome startup before my current job in SaaS. I’ve been ramping at this co. though so I haven’t even gotten the experience yet I want on my resume. But I talked with the startup co-founder about rejoining. I was thinking part time to start, but he says there’s a high chance of a full time job for me there. Startup is 100% remote. My job at current company is client meetings and deliverables. How difficult would it be to work both at once?

I don’t belong in my job. I didn’t mind it when I joined in January and was interacting but as we’ve been work from home longer, the less motivation I have. I don’t enjoy the work but I’ve gotten unlucky with my teams too, and can’t remember the last time my manager praised me without a critique. Maybe I’m just bad at my job. At this point I just am doing the bare minimum to not get fired. What do I do? Should I look for a job that I actually would enjoy doing or stick it out?

I’m a pretty anxious person and I’ve realized that a remote work environment only makes me more so - not being able to read people’s tone well, email/ping responses being more delayed than they would be in a conversation, the awkwardness of virtual meetings, etc. I’m in therapy and will discuss this there but would love to hear some tips about how people manage work anxiety specifically in a remote consulting environment.

I could really use insight. I’m a Rockstar in my dept/team. Ask me to take on a new project and I can get it done. I delegate tasks and partner with other lines of business. I am knowledgeable, punctual, communicative and competent. I can learn new skills/programs easily (SQL, Verint Speech Analytics, pivot tables in Excel.) My pain point is summed up: “Overlooked.” I am not a member of mgmt but want to pursue opportunities. How’ve you asked for mentorship? Tips on standing out in WFH setting?

I’m currently interviewing with a few top 10 firms and a couple top 100 firms for a mostly remote experienced associate/new senior role. Does anyone have any tips on virtual interviews and how to gauge the culture of the firm and if it really will be a good fit for you? I’m struggling to figure out that out because I used to gauge it on the feeling I got while in their office during interviews. Any suggestions would be helpful :)

Aight holiday gifts/tips for staff (mainly my PA) - I had heard as junior that it’s $100 per class year, so for example if ur a 3rd year it’s $300 to your PA. Is that the norm for your firm too, and same rule all the way up to senior year (so 6th year is $600…?) I love my PA but this year with WFH I really did not give her any work, but also we all get paid more what with covid bonuses so it seems extra grinch to not pay out. What’s your plan?
